One of the Fundraisers that Oldham Lions Club are involved in is the Annual Charity Towpath walk.
This was started 10 years ago and involves the Lions Clubs of . Oldham/West Tameside/Middleton/Littleborough/Heywood/Stretford/Rochdale and Todmorden from District 105C. The Walk starts at Manchester Canal basin and finishes at Lock 16 in Todmorden, a distance of 26 miles. Participants can start at any Checkpoint they want during the day, and each year the Clubs decide on a Charity that the sponsorship money will go to. The above photo's show three of Oldham Lions club Members on the walk. Lions Beverley, Marj and Chris.
Also photo's showing the District Governor's of 105BN and 105C who always attend the Event to personally thank the walkers for their efforts. Each year in November, everyone meets at the Woolworth club in Rochdale and Presentations of the Cheques are handed out to the main Charity and also to St. John's Ambulance and Raynet, who help the Lions out on these events.
This year it is being held on Sunday 23rd September 2012.
The Charity this year is The Marie Curie Cancer care.
