Welcome to the Novato Lions Club Home Page!
The Novato Lions Club was chartered on October 9, 1946 with 43 original members. Membership grew rapidly from the 43 original members to about 60 members in 1952. Club members participated in the formation committee leading to the founding of the City of Novato in 1960. As a result of a large active membership, the Novato (Host) Lions Club sponsored the Novato Breakfast ("7-Uppers") Lions Club which was chartered on October 28, 1974.
Starting with 49 members, the first major project of the Novato Breakfast 7-Uppers Lions Club was to raise money for the purchase of two “jaws-of-life” for the Novato Fire Protection District. The group was successful and completed another fundraiser for the fire district a few years later. Raising a total of $24,000 during the 1970’s for the fire district was a phenomenal amount of work even by today’s standards.
