Welcome to Northport Lions Club
Northport, Alabama chartered its Lions Club on February 25, 1955 with 79 charter members. Mr. Dawson Christian was our first President, and Mr. A.M. Kizziah was our first Secretary. At the initial meeting, we adopted the motto of Lions Clubs International: "WE SERVE". The Northport Lions Club has been serving the communities of Tuscaloosa and Northport for the past 65 years!
Today, membership includes 35 dedicated men and women. We meet twice a month for a meal and fellowship. The club proudly supports a variety of causes, some of which are outlined below:
- Camp Seale Harris: a weeklong summer camp to train diabetic children, ages 6-17, to manage their illness.
- Alabama Lions Sight Conservation Association: provides eye surgeries for patients statewide and provides eye exams to underserved individuals via a Mobile Unit to 40 counties throughout the state of Alabama.
- Local Sight Work: our club provides eye exams and glasses for people in our area.
- Caring Days: provides a day program for adults with Alzheimer's and other memory disorders.
- Food Donations: helping individuals with food to supplement their family needs through the Food Pantry at St. Mark United Methodist Chruch.
