We currently have 19 members, and the club was chartered in 1963. We meet at The Holiday Inn, with general meetings the 1st and 3rd Mondays, a business meeting the 2nd Monday. (Only club officers are required to attend the business meetings, however, all members are allowed to attend.) Our meeting time is 6:30 P.M.,and we are normally home by 8 P.M. Meals are served at all meetings.
The dues is $100.00 per quarter (three month period). This includes the cost of the meal, state and international dues.
The major projects for our club consist of supporting the Oklahoma and International projects, plus community projects . Most of the money raised through our work projects stays in Norman. These include eye examinations and eye glasses for the underprivileged school children, making donations of cash to various organizations including 4-h clubs, The Bridges Project, Food for Friends, Little River Zoo, Oklahoma Special Olympics, Oklahoma Lions Service Foundation, Oklahoma Lions White Cane Project, Project Sight First II, The Oklahoma Boys Ranch, and anywhere else we're asked to help.
We also collect used eye glasses and hearing aids. Collection boxes are located at both Norman Post Offices. Contact Bill clouston at 364-2029 for information concerning eye glasses.
We also have fun, not all work and no play. We have ladies night several times a year, an annual Christmas party. At the general meetings, we always have an interesting speaker or some type of interesting program.
