Projects and Activities

Road cleanup: We do this twice a year and have two areas to cover: 1) beginning at the 7-11 and running west 1.7 miles to the Shenandoah/Rockingham County line; and 2), Academy Road beginning at the intersection with Route 211 west.

Eyeglass recycling center:  The club has sponsored visits to the recycling center in Roanoke where we assist in the sorting, cleaning, and reading the prescriptions of glasses and the repackaging for shipment to third world countries. We also collect used eyeglasses to be taken to the recycling center.

Sight and Hearing Mobile Screening Unit: The Sight and Hearing Mobile Screening Unit (SAHMSU) has two hearing booths, two vision machines and a glaucoma machine. It has been used in past years to screen the students on the southern campuses of Shenandoah County Schools.

White Tree Manor:  Every summer we hold a picnic for the residents on the Manor grounds. These challenged people enjoy all the foods, deserts, and drinks, and the thanks are many. The residents have certainly enjoyed the event.
