New Authority Housing Authority Back to School Bash
July 27, 2022

An annual event to provide services for those living in public housing and Section 8 homes in New Albany. NA Lions provided vision screenings for sixty-five children and adults, distributed free sunglasses, and provided seven people with approval forms for NA Lions Club subsidized eye examine and eye glasses (if needed) at local partner optometrists.

St. Mark’s Kids Health Fair
July 9, 2022

NA Lions provided vision screening at the St. Mark's United Church of Christ (New Albany, Ind.) Kids Health Fair. Thirty-two children received a screening and a free pair of sunglasses. Parents of seven children were given approval forms for NA Lions Club subsidized eye examine and eye glasses (if needed) at local partner optometrists.

NA Lions held their annual picnic at Mount Saint Francis. Good food, fun, and fellowship was enjoyed by all who attended.

Scholarship Awards Banquet
June 6, 2022

NA Lions annually award three $1,000 scholarships to college-bound graduating high school seniors. The recipients and their families were recognized at the banquet.

Vision Screening

Using the club’s Plusoptix photorefraction device, NA Lions assisted staff members of Dr. Black’s Eye Associates in providing free vision screening clinics for early elementary school children. Approximately 1,800 students in 26 schools in 4 counties were tested.

Christmas Fruit Baskets
December 11, 2021

For many years the club distributed fruit baskets at this time of year to local blind and visually impaired people. Because of COVID concerns, the club decided instead to mail $25 Kroger gift certificates. Members phoned, wrote notes, and addressed envelopes to twenty-one individuals.

Christmas Tree Sales
November 26-December 13, 2021

The club’s annual Christmas tree sales rose over $6,500 to help support community services and projects.

Golf Scramble
September 10, 2021

Club held its annual golf scramble at Chariot Run Golf Course in Laconia, Indiana. More than 40 teams took part in the scramble, with over 30 hole sponsors. Approximately $7,000 was raised and distributed to 14 local schools, churches, and organizations who help students, families, and individuals with food insufficiencies.

New Albany Housing Authority Back to School Bash
July 29, 2021

The New Albany Housing Authority hosts an annual event to provide services for those living in public housing and Section 8 homes in New Albany. NA Lions provided vision screenings for both children and adults. Readers were distributed as needed and 16 individuals received vouchers for an eye exam with a local optometrist.
