History of the Nanaimo Lions Club
Veterans returning from WW II in 1945 and 1946 were looking for something to give them some purpose in the community and they decided to charter a Lions Club. They got Ladysmith Lions Club to sponsor them and Gabriel Brown was installed as the Charter President in March 1947. From that day forward the Nanaimo Lions Club has played an integral part in the community raising funds to help those in need, building may community structures and offering an opportunity to citizens to serve their community as Lions Club Members.
