Nailsea Lions Make Dreams Come True

Nailsea Lions wanted to help make the dreams of local charities, good causes and volunteer groups come true.

Each year the people in Nailsea, Backwell and the surrounding area donate generously to the Lions Father Christmas Float collection, Hamper Raffle and other Christmas events.  Last year, rather than having one main beneficiary, the Lions donated the money raised to a number of smaller charities, for whom a small donation could make a huge difference.  This proved to be highly successful, and so the Lions have done it again this year. Here are the charities chosen to benefit:

Backwell Enviromental Trust to renovate a wheelchair friendly trail above Backwell  - £100

Backwell & Nailsea Macular Society to finance speakers and the cost of outings - £200

Tyntesfield Medical Group to fund health events and school talks - £200

Nailsea Prostate Group to run forums and a tent at Nailsea Market - £240

Nailsea Community Skatepark to fund a generator for use at the annual festival - £200

Nailsea Disability Initiative to run its advisory service for disabled/carers/seniors - £300

About Nailsea Lions

Nailsea Lions Club serves the small towns of Nailsea, Backwell, Long Ashton and surrounding villages. All are vibrant and exciting communities located near the A370 which runs between Bristol & Weston Super Mare in the South West of England, UK.

Our club members live in those same communities and we are actively seeking women and men to join us.

As a club we can offer fun, new friends, a challenge and activities that support communities both locally and overseas. We are a Registered Charity (CIO) and  meet every month to discuss our programme of events and make decisions on donations. In between, we carry out those events and get together socially with the objective of having fun and enjoying ourselves !
