Lion John Barnes MBE cited in the 2013 New Years Honours List
Moseley and Kings Heath Lions Club are delighted and proud of their Club Treasurer Lion John Barnes who was awarded the MBE in this years New Years Honours list for his tireless volunteer work. John has dedicated many years of his life in helping less fortunate people. He was involved in establishing the Headway Charity within the West Midlands. This Charity helps those people with brain injuries. John has also worked with the young in the community in the Cubs and Scouts organisation.
John has been a member of the Lions Clubs organisation for more than 25 years and has served as both Club President, Secretary and Treasurer and also takes a prominent role within the Midlands District on behalf of Lions. John would be the first person to comment that such awards are great but it is the carers and campaigners that he works with every day who are equally deserving however as a Club we are proud to volunteer side by side with John and we are certainly proud that he is a member of this Club.
