VIPS 4th Annual Fun Run

VIPS Annual Fun Run took place at the Galaxy 12 Theatres in Riverbank.  According to all reports, it was a very successful event.  There were a number of volunteers from the Modesto 500 who participated in various capacities.  Congrats to one and all. 

Forakis Scholarship Concert 

The Annual Anythony Paul Forakis Scholarship Concert was a real treat.  The backyard concert was hosted once again at the Bruce's house in Modesto.  Every year the event just keeps getting better and better.  The concert featured a number of talent musicians from the Modesto area, including a number of high school students.  Dr. Forakis treated us to some of his favored Greek Food Festival food, including his BBQ'd chicken and lemon rice.  Delicious!!  As a club, we manned the Popcorn Maker again.  

Donations collected go to the scholarship fund, which awards grants each year to college-bound students with promising musicianship and talent.  Several past-year recipients treated the crowd to an encore performance.  A silent as well as a live auction were also a part of the night's festivities.  Donations from the event are matched by the Modesto 500 Lions.

Mentoring Program Looking for New Voluteers 

We are forming our mentor troops for this school year. If you have not sent in your application, please do so.  I need to supply all the schools with a list of mentors, new and returning. Hope to hear from you all!!
