Spot Vision Screenings
In September 2016, McKinleyville Lions members volunteered 103 hours providing free Spot vision screenings at Dow's Prairie Elementary, Morris Elementary and McKinleyville Middle School. A total of 1,012 children under the age of 13 were screened in a three day period with 93 of those requiring a referral to an optometrist.
Members also held fundraisers throughout 2016 to purchase their own Spot device. A total of $10,000 was raised in six months.
Dow's Prairie School makes sure that parents know about the vision screening.

The club partnered with the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce for the annual Corks, Forks and Kegs event. The Chamber donated $500 toward the Spot fund.
