OFFICIAL OPENING
The Marystown Lions Center officially opened October 25th, 1986. The building provided meeting rooms for both the Lions and the Marystown Golden Age Club (who later added Lions to their title), and a large area upstairs available for weddings, banquets, etc. The building was later expanded and almost doubled the size of the banquet area. As well the downstairs area was divided into two sections, one for the Marystown Lions Golden Age Club, and the other for the Lions. The Lions later named this area the Lion Gerry Walsh Board Room, in memory of the late Lion Gerry Walsh. Lion Gerry was a charter member of the Marystown Lions Club and a former member of the Burin and St.Lawrence Lions Club.
The Marystown Lions Club was officially Incorporated in 1974 under the name "The Lions Club of Marystown Inc."
The Marystown Lions host or co-host fall DGO's (Conventions) annually since 1976.
Lion Ross Oldford was elected District Governor for 1982 - 1983 and was the only member of the Marystown Lions Club to serve in this office until recently. Lion Keith Crocker served as District Governor of District 41-S2, now District N4, for 2002 - 2003.
Lion Bill Dober sponsored the first female Lion, Carol Ann Ralph, into the Marystown Club in April of 1999. Since then, several other women have followed her lead.
The Marystown Lions Club have had one or more members on the District 41-S2 Cabinet (now District N4) every year.
