LV Los Prados Lions truly believe in the Lions Club International motto WE SERVE and are involved in monthly community service projects such as:
USED EYEGLASS COLLECTION boxes are located in the Summerlin and Decatur/215 Costco stores for your convenience in dropping off used pairs of eyeglasses. . .
EYEGLASS RECYCLING - Los Prados Lions join with other southern NV Lions at the Blind Center of Southern NV on the last Saturday of each month to count, sort, clean and catalog the "thousands" of used eyeglasses which are collected by Lions each month . . .
CAMP-DAT-SO-LA-LEE - The LP Lions send a needy young boy and/or girl from a nearby elementary school each June to this Lions Camp who would otherwise never have an opportunity to enjoy a camp experience. The camp which is located in the Ruby Mountains near Elko, NV is supported by the sale of Lions Camp Calendars each fall.
WHITE CANE DAY - Los Prados Lions invite the public "to help the Lions help the blind" each OCTOBER during White Cane Days . . . These monies are used to support the SightFirst Foundation of Southern NV which provides eye screenings, eyeglasses and eye surgeries to needy school children and seniors in Clark County.
FLAG DAYS - LP Lions share individual American flags (and talk about the meaning and care of the flag) with the 5th graders at Ernest May Elementary School each year - either around Presidents Day in Feb or Memorial Day in May. A new project will be sharing flags and information about NEVADA with 4th graders at Ernest May Elememtary around NV DAY in October.
MAGICAL FOREST at OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE - LP Lions volunteer their time (and energy!) each Christmas season at the Magical Forest as 70 volunteers are needed each evening to help make this great community effort a success.
ARBOR DAY - is celebrated each May by planting a tree in the Los Prados Golf Community as children from Ernest May School talk about the meaning of Arbor Day.
PEACE POSTER CONTEST - LP Lions encourage a local middle school to join with us in entering the Lions International Peace Poster Contest each fall. The winner of this contest is awarded a trip to LIONS DAY at the UNITED NATIONS each spring.
STUDENT SPEAKER CONTEST - The Lions of Nevada (LCI District 46) conduct a Student Speaker Contest for High School age young people on a specified topic of interest to youth and meaningful to our country each year. This year's topic will be on SOCIAL NETWORKING: HELPFUL OR HARMFUL? Los Prados Lions partner with Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas to support students through the various levels of this contest. The District winner will receive over $5,000 in scholarship monies each year. The Contest is funded by the District 46 Student Speaker Foundation and contributions from Lions Clubs and individuals.
RONALD McDONALD HOUSE - LP Lions collect pop tops from aluminum cans to support the Ronald McDonald House on a regular basis.
FUNDRAISING PROJECTS - to support the many service projects of the club each year, Los Prados Lions hold such fundraisers as a SEE' Candy Drive in November, in spring, an Annual Fashion Show each spring.
