COMMUNITY SERVICE

Los Angeles Mission Project:   On the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month we sponsor a group of volunteers to help with the set-up, serving and clean-up for the 2 dinner services provided at the Mission.   

Sandwich Brigade:  On the 4th Sunday of each month we prepare and deliver sandwiches to the homeless in L.A.

Eyeglass Collection: Collect, clean and grade lenses using a Lensometer to provide glasses for those in need of eyewear.

Recycling Project:  Collection and recycling of bottles and cans.

Teresita Pines:  Each year our club provides a Barbecue lunch for the annual Open House.  This fun project allows for Lions to see our great facility and what it has to offer in the beautiful mountain community of Wrightwood.

Reading Action Program:  Collecting and distributing children's books to mothers with young children to promote daily reading at home.

Beach and Park Cleanup:  Clearing trash from our public places and promote community pride.

Christmas Caroling:  A festive and favorite activity for us.  Spreading good cheer to the elderly and infirmed and singing carols of yesteryear.

Christmas Party for Special Needs Children:  An annual event enjoyed by hundreds of children through the years.

City of Hope Walk for Cancer:  An annual event where we provide workers and walkers to help in this important cause.

Citizen of the Year Award:  Our club recognizes someone outside of the Lion's Club each year for their dedication to and involvement in Community Service.

Diabetes Awareness:  Providing access to nutrition education for our members as well as participating in working and walking in the Walk for Juvenile Diabetes.

E-Club Website:  We provide a public website so those interested in all of the programs offered by the Lion's is available.

Winter Shelter Program:  Providing winter essentials and meals to the homeless.

Lion's Flag Day:  Distribute miniature flags to elementary students.

Operation Gratitude:  Coordinate volunteer work at the Armory monthly.

Peace Poster Contest:  Conduct a contest for children ages 11-13.  Each year a different theme is announced and the children work within the guidelines given to them to create their interpretation of the theme.  Our winner will go on to the next level to compete.

Rose Float Decoration:  Coordinate and supply club participation in parade float decorating.

Sight Programs:  Monthly collection for the LOVE and LSH Programs.

Student Speaker Contest:  Conduct a Speaking Contest for High School Students. They are given a topic and are judged by a panel with an opportunity to win money for their education.

TurnAround Fundraising:  Arrange and coordinate turnaround bus trips to raise money  for our many actiities.

Youth Exchange Program:  Arrange and coordinate hosting of exchange students from abroad.
