02-25-2018 Meeting Minutes
Lion President Adolph called the meeting to order at 6:30 with all present
saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Dale led us in song.
Roll call was taken and Lion membership chair Gloria inducted Carol and
Jim Polkowski and Ev Johnson.
Treasurer's Report: Project Report: $9,957.13 Administration Report$5,476.04
Dan made a motion to approve the treasurer's report and secretary August
meeting minutes. Dale seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Correspondence: Historical Rural School; Connie made a motion to donate
$200. Warren seconded the motion. Motion carried.
We received a thank you from the C.A.R.E Ministry out of Staples.
Cribbage Players; Vickie Johnson was here to ask for volunteers to teach
cribbage to the 5th and 7th graders at the Motley Middle School either in the
morning or afternoon at certain times. It was decided that we would present
this to the people that come to our Thanksgiving Dinner and post it on the
town hall bulletin board.
Highway Clean-up: Wednesday, October 3rd Please meet at Lincoln Gas &
Bait at 9:30 to get started. Any questions, call Diane Koole.
Thanksgiving Dinner: Kim is going to co-chair this project with Char.
Summer's over Party: canceled
Christmas Party: Tuesday, October23rd at the Town Hall. Please bring
hats, gloves, mittens or and warm items for school aged children.
Election of officers: 2018 – 2019 President – Dan Carlson, 1st Vice President
Diane Koole, Secretary – Geri Altrichter / (sub.) Connie Zetah, Treasurer -
Chuck Stockman, Committee Chair – Gloria Stone Kim made a motion to
approve this slate of officers. Dale seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Electronic Sign: Chuck has received a bid for $14,500 - $15,000 for this sign.
Dan made a motion to approve the purchase. Connie seconded the motion.

November Zone Meeting: Hosted by the Randall Cushing Little Elks Lions
Club on November 7th at the Randall VFW. 5:30 Social 6:30 Dinner with
program to follow. $12.00 Dinner They would like to know how many of
us plan to attend by October 12th. Please let me know.
September Pancake Breakfast: We had approximately 145 people for break-
fast that morning. Nancy was able to deplete the remaining inventory by
selling it to a church that is going to have a breakfast.

Lions President Adolph called the meeting to order at 6:30 with the Pledge of

Correspondence; Sophie's Fund Raiser at Camp Confidence – Saturday, September
15th from 4:00 to 8:00. Lion Terry made a motion to donate $400. Lion Char
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
New Business: Pancake Breakfast; Lion Nancy passed a sign up sheet around for
Sunday's September 2nd breakfast.
Electronic Sign: Lion Chuck has asked a couple of company's for bids and will may-
be know more next month.
L.S.V. Lions Invitational: Sunday, September 30th – Lion Dan has invited several
other clubs. Whoever wants to can golf 9 holes of golf or you can come and play
cribbage, cards or just socialize. It is a pot luck but Lion Tonya has offered to
prepare the meat product for dinner. Please let him know if you plan to attend.
Christmas Party: Lion Peg and Adolph are going to plan the Christmas Party and
will let us know next month about Christmas Party.
Highway Clean-up: Wednesday, October 3rd is being planned for this event.
Summer-fest: Lion Connie thanks all who stepped up to sell tickets for Lion John's
beer wagon. She or they had more than enough help for the day but because of the
changes she has learned much.
2018 – 2019 Officers: Because of those that leave the Minnesota winters we elect
our officers in October. International needs the report of president, secretary,
treasure and committee chair by April 15th so it is easier for us to do it in the fall.
Board Positions needing to fill are the ??? but if you would want a position on the
board please let someone know.

July 24th Meeting Minutes
The Lincoln Scandia Valley Lions regular monthly meeting was called to order at
6:00 by lions president Adolph Rabe at the Scandia Valley Town Hall with the Pledge
of Allegiance being said by all present. Lion Dale led us in song.
Roll call was taken and President Adolph introduced Brianne Mielke as our speaker
this evening.
Jim and Carol Polkowski were introduced as perspective members.
Secretary's Meeting Minutes: Dan made a motion to approve the June 26th meeting
minutes that had been sent out. Nancy seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Chuck reports that the Project Fund: $2,999,81 (estimated after
after golf) $9,180.81 Administration Fund: $4,745.30 estimated after golf $5.919.30
M/M $21,345.30 Al made a motion to approve the treasurer's report. Peg
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Correspondence: Thank you's from Fire Department, First Responds, 2018 Grad

Staples Motley Area Chamber of Commerce: Terry made a motion to donate $200.
Connie seconded the motion. Motion carried.
New Business: KidSight – Geri reports that we will work with Deb at Summerfest
on Saturday, August 4th. It will take 2 shifts of 4 helpers. A sign-up sheet will be sent
out.
NEW SIGN: It was suggested that we should look into a new sign out front
of the town hall. Dan made a motion to form a committee to look into purchasing
a sign and others to help with the cost. Char seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Social: Dan has scheduled a Lions Club club social for September 30th. at the Pine
Ridge Golf Club. As of tonight he plans to invite the Motley, Pillager, Randall and
the Staples Clubs.

Lions President Adolph called the meeting to order at 6:30 with the Pledge of
Allegiance. Lion Dale led us in song.

Dan introduced his wife Kristi, Warren introduced Connie Zetah, Renee introduced

Secretary's May 26th Minutes: Dan made a motion to approve the minutes sent out.
Dale seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Dan read Chucks treasurer's report. Project fund: $3,254.82
Administration fund: $5,219.08 John made a motion to accept the report. Warren
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE: No action was taken on – Golf for Kids/Lakewood Health
System and Minnesota Miller Beep Ball.
Kinship Partners Inc.: Terry made a motion to donate $100. Diane seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
Postmaster's House Fire Benefit: On June 2nd, a fire destroyed the home of Missy,
Baggenstos, Postmaster in charge of the Cushing and Motley Post Offices. This
benefit will be held Friday, July 6th, 5 pm to 8:30 pm at the Scandia Valley Park.
Yvonne made a motion to donate $200 to the Baggensto's. Renee seconded the
motion.
Ev come to our meeting to speak about this benefit and explained that she
had paid $300 towards the printing of the mailing that everyone got. Renee made a
motion to reimburse Ev the $300 that went towards the printing of the notice.
Nancy seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Induction of the 2018 – 2019 officers: PDG Lions Frank and Amy inducted this
years club officers. We've added a sunshine chair person to the board and so if
you know of one of our members that is in the hospital or have lost a family
member, please contact Lion Yvonne. Yvonne's telephone number is 575-2824.
We are still in need of a 1 and 2 year membership chair.
Induction of new members: Lions Gloria, Frank and Amy inducted Kristi, Mark
and Connie as new members of the Lincoln Scandia Valley Lions. Welcome!!

Lions president Adolph called the meeting to order at 6:23 with the Pledge of
Allegiance.
President Adolph introduced Lion District Governor Jack, his wife Lion Carol,
and the Motley Lions.
District Governor Jack spoke on “Sharing the Fun”. Lion Carol then tested
everyone on his speech and Lions general information.
CONGRADULATIONS to Lion Terry Sandstrom and Mary Corrigan for
receiving the Melvin Jones Award.
Lion Warren received a Chevron pin for 35 years of service
Secretary's April meeting minutes: Dan made a motion to approve the minutes
sent out. Renee seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: Lion Chuck reports that our project fund total is
$4,525.02 / administration fund total is $4,075.08 and the money market total
$21,238.86. Nancy made a motion to approve the treasurer's report. Dale
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Correspondence: We received thank you's from the Staples Area Women's
Chorus and the Sprinkle & Sprout Garden Club.
Requests: During the past month we have received requests from Amari Riley
who was invited to compete in Australia at the 30th annual Down Under Sports
Tournament – Minnesota Track & Field. Amari lives in Scandia Valley and is
Rick and Kathy Headley's great-niece.
Terry was called by a fire fighter who requested monies to purchase a leaf
blower to fight fires. Lion Terry made a motion to purchase 2 at $570 each.
Warren seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Castaway Club: Lion Jerrid has asked to rent the sign for the summer.
Terry has put the sign on the corner advertising pancake breakfasts and such
when it is needed.
Committee Reports:
Pancake Breakfasts; Sunday, May 28th is our first breakfast of the summer.
Nancy and Gloria have gotten everything purchased and we need everyone
that can help to help.
Summer Golf Tournament: Saturday, July 21st The first meeting will be at
Adolph and Peg's home on Monday, April 28th at 6:00.
We presented gifts to Lion D.G. Jack and Lion Carol.

Adolph introduced Jack Olson with the Long Prairie Sportsmen Club who spoke briefly on the gun training Saturday being held on May. Everyone is invited to help and for lunch. Lion Russ made a motion to donate $500. Warren seconded the motion. Motion carried.

New Business:
Highway Clean-up: Diane decided that it'll be done on Wednesday,
May 9th. Meet at Lincoln Gas & Bait at 9:30 and leave from there.
Pancake Breakfasts: Gloria and Nancy are looking for a third chair-
person to take a turn. Otherwise everything is the same and the dates
are Sunday's, May 27th, July 1st, and September 2nd.
White Cane Friday: Friday, June 15th at Lincoln Gas & Bait starting
at 11:00 , 2 hour shifts until 7:00. I'll check with Peg and have a sign
up sheet at the May meeting.
Summer Golf Tournament: Saturday, July 21st and Adolph will be touch
pertaining to the first meeting and place.
Lion Dues: Our administration fund can afford to make changes to
members dues. We'll pay the one time International $35 charge
for new members. A couples dues will be $100. Next mouths meeting
at the the Pine Ridge Golf Club members meals and perspective members
will be paid for by the Administration fund. Lion Russ made a motion to
approve these changes. Lion Dale seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
May 22nd Meeting: District Governor Jack Breitkreutz and wife Lion
Carol will be at this meeting along with the Motley Lions Club. The
proper gifts will be purchased and given.
Checking Account: Lion Chuck made a motion to update the names
on the checking accounts. Treasurer: Chuck Stockman; President:
Adolph Rabe: 1st Vice President: Dan Carlson and Secretary: Geri
Altrichter Diane seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Summer Speakers: Lion Dan has confirmed that his daughter, Brianna
will be available to speak at our July meeting. Lion John will speak on
eye care in Mexico.
Old Business:
Winter Golf Tournament; Chuck reported that we had a almost perfect
weather day with 245 golfers. The project fund total for the day was
$10,036.00 and the administration fund took in $780.00.
Christmas Shopping: Char and Chuck has volunteered to take this
project over.
Summer Fest: Dan will be touch with Jan Renko and will take care of
this project.

Can Do Canines: Can Do Canines is honored to accept the generous Parade of
Green donation of $500 from the Lincoln Scandia Valley Lions Club, received in
our office on 2/6.2018. We want to convey our deepest gratitude for the Lions
men and women who exemplify the Lions motto “We Serve” by doing whatever
is needed to help their local communities.
Lions Diabetes Foundation: We want to thank you for your generous $300
donation to the Parade of Green. “Catch The Dream” Life without Diabetes
Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation: Thank You for the generous donation of
$300 given to us during the 2018 District 5M8 Parade of Green. Continued
support allows the “Gift of Sight” to those in need. Your gift supports the re-

Project Reports;
Snow Golf Tournament: People look forward to this golf tournament and the weather
at 10:00 a.m. was sunny, bright and 28 degrees. 245 golfers attended and Jerrid made
and everyone could enjoy a very good hot Chilly soup. We had 163 sponsors for
2 and 4 team golfer prizes and then raffle prizes, much money was spent on purchasing
lollipops . It didn't take a very long time to sell the many wine bottles either and again
every one received something. Lion members Terry and Ardis know this tournament
and this year was the best ever. Terry said we couldn't do it without lions members,
sponsors and volunteers.
Lions Flashing Sign: Lion Terry has replaced the batteries in this sign. This will
make things easier for him now, let us remember to thank him for taking care of
this sign.

Snow Golf Golf Tournament: Saturday, February 17th at the Castaway Please donate a bottle of wine to be sold at this tournament and a chance to win $50 taped to the bottle.
Please drop them off at either Mary Corrigan's or the Castaway Club as soon as you have them or can do so.
They need to be wrapped (one with the $50 bill) and ready to sell.

Board Meeting / Snow Golf Tournament Meeting
The meeting took place as people arrived.
Members present: Dan Carlson, Al Card, Adolph Rabe, Mary Corrigan, Geri Altrichter and Ardis & Terry Sandstrom
A check was received from Lincoln Lakes Liquor for $150 for the rental of the sign. Terry recommends that we purchase new batteries for the sign because he needs to charge them frequently now. This sign contains 6 batteries at approximately $100 each but Terry will take the sign to where it was purchased from to have it serviced. This is administration funds. Dan made a motion to buy new batteries for the sign. Adolph seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Snow Golf Tournament: Ardis is putting together a sign- up sheet for the tournament that will be sent out to all. She is adding and considering how many is needed for each job, some have already signed up and thank you. Also, I will remind you again in January that we are asking for bottles of wine from all that will donate one and drop off locations, this raises good money. Again, Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at the Castaway Club.

Lion President Adolph called the board meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance at 5:30ish.

Lions Clubs International is an event you won’t want to miss. PID Brain E. Sheehan is running for 3rd VP of LCI, they would like to have 1000 MD5M members there to vote for him. Our club has 1 delegate vote. The convention is June 29th – July 3rd in Las Vegas. No action was taken.
Terry made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mary seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Regular Monthly Meeting
The regular monthly meeting was called to order at 6:00 by Lion President Adolph Rabe. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all present.
Secretary’s Report: The October 24th secretary’s report was sent out to all members.
Treasurer’s Report: Chuck reports that the Project Fund is at $17,339.30 / Administration Fund: $5333.04 Dan made a motion to approve the seretary’s October report and the treasurer’s report. Terry seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Requests: Horizon Health (care for seniors) Terry made a motion to donate to $250. Warren seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Mid-Minnesota Woman’s Center; Ardis made a motion to donate $250. Yvonne seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Staples Woman Chorus: Mary made a motion to donate $500. Ardis seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Staples – Motley Basketball Boosters: Dan made a motion to donate $100. Mary seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Dollars for Scholars: Yvonne made a motion to donate 2 - $500 scholarships to the Staples – Motley High School and the Pillager High School. Gloria seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Parade of Green: Eye Bank, LCIF., Project New Hope, Diabetes, Camp Confidence, and the Hearing Foundation Terry made a motion to donate $400 to each of the Lions Projects. Dan seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Thanksgiving Dinner: We served 180 people a great Thanksgiving Dinner, many complements on everything. Char reports that we will do one more turkey next year and purchase another apple pie. $1,395.00 was donated; food cost was $373.79 for a profit of $1,021.00. Terry spoke with Sherry, the food shelf manager and she would appreciate it if we donated our money in March because the money is matched at that time. Lion member John Brichacek, 2 Tall Tavern’s donation to the food shelf is purchasing the turkeys for Christmas this year.

December Club Meeting / Snow Golf Tournament: Terry and Ardis will have a snow golf tournament meeting on Monday, December 4th at the Sandstrom residence at 6:00. This will also be the December board meeting.

October 24, 2017
Lion President Adolph called the Christmas party to order at 6:30ish at the Timbers Restaurant . The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all present and roll call was taken.
Guests: Mary introduced Mark and Renee Schmitz ( Spring members), Diane introduced Tim, Mary – Dan and Mike – Jan.

Thanksgiving Dinner: Char talked about the dinner, passed around a sign-up sheet for everything that needs to be done. The dinner is always on the Thursday before Thanksgiving from 11:00 – 1:00. It is a very big project in which any donations received and money from the club equaling $500 goes to the food shelf.
Induction of New Member: Membership chair Gloria inducted Lion member Renee Pomerleau. Welcome Renee!!
Zone Meeting: Motley is hosting the Tuesday, November 21st zone meeting. It will be held at the Ten-Hi starting at 5:30 (social), dinner is a chicken dinner ($12.00) catered by the Country Side with the meeting to follow.
2017 – 2018 Club Board Members: Normally we have more club members at our meetings in the fall, this report has to be turned in by April 15th of each year so we need to vote any board members needed to fill our board. Terry volunteered he and Warren to get members needed for the vote.
Lion Club International: After 4 months of filling out these reports I am beginning to understand everything that they want. I had thought they wanted hours for service activities which includes the highway clean-up, Thanksgiving Dinner, glass collection, foot care and benefits. Things that we do for someone or the community – we serve. I asked both Lion Diane and Char to keep track of hours put into these functions so I can report them. As it turns out they would like hours and dollar amounts for everything, pancake breakfasts and everything else. Chuck always breaks down the dollar amounts

Lion Mary called the board meeting to order at 5:30 with all members present saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

Dale read the secretaries August 22nd meeting minutes.
Treasurers’ Report: Dan made a motion to put the financial report on hold until Chuck returns. Nancy seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Christmas Party: Mary has set up our Christmas party with the Timbers Restaurant in Staples. Nancy and Diane will purchase wine and gift cards from local businesses to give away as gifts at the party.

Regular Monthly Meeting
Lion Mary called the September 26th, 2017 regular monthly meeting to order at 6:00 with everyone present saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call was taken and our guests and speaker this evening are Bunny Tabett, Dixy and friend Mary.
Bunny spoke on Leader Dogs for the Blind and for every $500 donated our club is entitled to a Founders Tribute to be given to a club, club member or someone in the community that is worthy of this award. Suggestions were made for past members that might receive this award. Bunny spoke briefly, answered questions and will be in touch if she gets a bus trip to the Leader Dog head-quarters.
Secretary Report: Geri stated that she had sent out the minutes for the August 22nd meeting. Lion Dale made a motion to approve the minutes. Lion Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Correspondence: We received information from the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota State Academies concerning White Cane Safety Awareness Day. Purpose: Practice and showcase orientation and mobility skills, meet other students and adults who are blind, share information with the general public and recognize the contributions of notable Americans who were/are blind or visually impaired.
Road Clean-up: Lion chair Diane is passing a sign-up sheet around this evening for those that can volunteer for the Wednesday, October 4th highway clean-up. Meet at Lincoln Gas & Bait at 9:30 to get organized for the ditch walk.
Snow-Golf Tournament: The golf tournament will take place on February 17th, 2018 in front of the Castaway. Lion Terry will be in touch with plans for the first meeting.
Lions Christmas Party: Tuesday, October 24th at the Timber Restaurant in Staples. The Lions will pay for dinner and each Lion will receive two drink tickets, guests are $20.00. The dinner choices are either chicken, steak or salmon. Lion Mary needs to have a head count as soon as possible. Please bring hats, caps, mittens, gloves and or anything warm for school age children.
Committees: Lion Dan is cleaning up our committee sheet. He with the club members help has eliminated some but up dated the rest. They can be found on line.
Lion Terry took home the door prize this evening. Ardis made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Lion Nancy seconded the motion. Motion carried.

ZONE MEETING: Frank Williams is now our district zone chair and called to let us know that this is our month to host the Tuesday, September 19thzone meeting. It was decided that we would hold it at the 2 Tall Tavern at 6:00. Mary, Gloria, Peg, Terry, l & Renee and Dale & Nancywill be in charge of the raffle or raffles which is administration money.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: Adolph and Warren will take care of the Staples Motley and Pillager scholarships.
LIONS CHRISTMAS PARTY: Geri volunteered to get quotes and menus from anyone interested in catering it here at the town hall in either September or October.
AWARDS: Past president Mary presented Char Stockman and Warren Johnson Dream Catcher awards earned by our club.
WELCOME: Congratulations Renee Pomerleau on becoming our newest member of the Lincoln Scandia Valley Township Lions.

Lincoln Scandia Valley Lions president Adolph Rabe called the July board meeting to order at 5:30 with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Correspondence: We received a heartfelt THANK-YOU from Lion members Jim and Dernie Fogelbergs son and daughter-in-law, Gerry and Joan. It will be read at the general meeting.

L.S.V. Lions president Adolph called the meeting to order at 6:30 with the Pledge of Allegiance being said by all present.

John Miller introduced our speaker for the evening as Jomyla Choate. She was one from the Motley Methodist Church that we had donated money for to go on a mission trip. Very interesting.
