Alexander T. Wells was District Governor of District 20 New York in 1929. District 20 was the entire state of New York from 1921 until 1938. PIP Wells was a member of the Long Island City Lions Club. PIP Wells was an attorney and lived in Jackson Heights, Queens NY. He was elected as International President of Lions International at the International Convention held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania held July 18th – July 21st, 1939. Alexander T. Wells was Lions Clubs International's 23rd President, serving the organization from 1939-1940.
In his honor, Lions District 20-K1's Foundation established the Alexander T. Wells Distinguished Service Award. This is the highest Service Award available from the District 20-K1 Foundation awarded to Lions, Non-Lions Organizations, & Businesses that exemplifies community service.
