Meetings

The Lebanon Lions Club was organized in 1936 by the Lafayette Lions club, the first Lions Club in Indiana.  This club was among the first clubs extended by the recently organized Lions Clubs International which, originated in Chicago, Illinois.

Our first President was Paul Swank, a school administrator, later school superintendent.  At first, member represented various businesses or other worthy endeavors.  As the club grew this practice soon became unwieldy and membership was opened to all ethical persons of good will who wished to serve the community.

At one time the Lebanon Lions Club was the largest community service club in town, with more than 100 members.  Today, the club is small, but quite active.  Or members serve Lebanon in many and diverse ways: We have supplied bicycles for the park police; we supplied a handicapped "lift" for a van: we have planted flowers in the park; we bought security cameras for the park; we helped with organization of the Little League and sponsored a team; we helped with construction of a new Little League Ball Park and we were a primary contributor to the new Veterans Memorial in Memorial Park.  Each year we contribute to the state projects.

Through the years we have provided leadership beyond our club.

Our Lions have served District 25-C as regional chairman, as trainers for a variety of projects and have served as District Chaplains, District Governors and state project chairs.  Our members have also attended State and National leadership forms and International conventions.
