The Difference for Bev

"I'll never forget the first time I crossed a busy street of four lanes of traffic with my first Dog Guide - I was terrified not being able to see! That's how limited I was. Now I go everywhere with my Dog Guide. It's night and day, truly."  Bev, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides Recipient

Multiply this story hundreds of times.  Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides was established in 1985.  Now we offer Dog Guides in seven different programs:  Canine Vision, Diabetes Alert, Seizure Assistance, Austism Assistance, Hearing, Service, and Facility Support. Lions Clubs across Canada contribute as much as 20% of the foundation's annual revenue.  We receive no government funding.

As Co-Chair, Carol Martin provides educational and fun presentations to Lions Club and organziations up and down Vancouver Island and across the water to the various Gulf Islands.

Our annual Walk for Dog Guides is a sure hit with Lions Club, communities, families and their four-legged dogs, to come out, share thier love of their pets while they enjoy a walk.  The Lions set up tents, have games, and prizes.  Music "Who Let the Dog Out!" is a favourite.  Everyone leaves with a happy heart.  PetValu by Bosley's is a major supporter of the Walk for Dog Guides and hugely generous.  Check out your local Bosley's in Ladysmith, and you'll find a freindly greeting with tremendous variety in food, toys, and loves.

Our goal is to raise awareness of Dog Guides and to fundraise.  1.4$ was raised during our May 2024 Walk for Dog Guides.  Tremendous!!!  Each year we look to raise the bar with more Walks, and more fundraising.
