The region is blessed with greenery every where … Paddy fields, Banana plants, Coconut Trees… River, Canals & famous for its backwater tourism espcially house boat cruises. Vembanad Lake which is the largest fresh water Lake in the state of Kerala.

Kumarakom Lions club was chartered in 2003. This is one of the first Service club in the Kumarakom. The club has 22 members at present. The main projects are Eradication of Plastic, the Home for Home Less and hunger relief. "Medicare card" to help the poor patients is another well acclaimed project.

PMJF Ln Joy Thomas is member of Kumarakom lions club was the Dist. Governor for the Year 2016-17 with the slogan "Serve With Joy" and he was the key person for reliasing the Dist Head Quarter at Kottayam with support of Dist 318 B Club Members & later he served as LCIF Co-Ordinator of Multiple Dist 318.

Kumarakom lions Club has sponsered 5 Clubs in this District the are Lions Club of Monipally,Lions Club of Kottayam Falcon, Lions Club of Kottayam Dreemcity , Lions Club of Ettumanoor Town and lions club of Vechoor.
