15 Nutritional Food packs worth Rs 1000/= each were given to low income pregnant mothers of the area. 15 pregnant mothers were selected with the help of the Medical Officer of Health. The nutritional food packs contained Rice, Dhal, cowpea, gram, Sprats, salt, green leaves, etc. the receipients were provided with apacket of milk as refreshments.

Father of the patient has requested our club for assistance for nutritional food and future treatment for the child. Board considering the request decided to provide nutritional food supplement worth of rs 5000/= per month initially for five months. 1st month food supplement was handed over on 20th October by Lion Leslie Leelananda. funding for the project was provided by Lion P K Hemachandra.

Donors were selected after screening by the medical staff and found fit to donate blood. Two PDGs and few cabinet officer were among the lions who participated in this event

At the request of the Officer in charge of the National Youth corps training center , Bulathsinhala, a youth program was conducted on 11.09.2015. Conducted a training program on Positive thinking for the youth corps by Major Nishantha Priyalal. In addition 4 ceiling fans were donated to the center. This was done as a joint project with L/C of Oruwala. A scholarship was granted to two trainees. L/C of Kolonnawa granted a Scholarship of Rs. 16,000/= to Youth corp K N Madara Kothalawala. A job opportunity at M & A Auto Traders was given to a passed -out youth corp by Lion Jayasiri Andaraweera.

Blood Donation Camp
Venue - Kelaniya Ancient Temple

A blood domation camp was organized by the club in view of the full moon ( poya ) day at ancient Kelaniya temple which is one of the greatest buddhist shrines to which Lord Buddha had visited live 2500 years ago. This was conducted as a major image building project because of the importance of the place & the date ( poya day in which thousands of buddhist devotees gather into the temple ). 248 donars had donated blood & the collection of blood was arranged to be used to give relief for patients who were suffering from Dengue fever spreading in the country during this season.

A fourth year medical student , medical faculty , University of Sri Jayawardenapura , Dhanushka S.K.Kotigala was handed over with a donation of Rs. 12000/= for his educational needs. This amount of money was donated by Club treasurer , charter member Lion K.E.Perera. Handing over was done on 23.07.2011 at the first monthly meeting.

S.A.Premawathie Perera , a destitute woman aged 62 years of age , who had lost her husband was provided with 16 nos. corrugated roofing sheets worth Rs. 11,200/= . Handing over of the payment receipt for purchase of roofing sheets was carried out at the monthly meeting by the project Chairman Lion Asoka Perera , Charter member.

Dr. Jayawardena was felicitated on this day ly Lions for his honorary service. Prescribed medicine & vitamins were provided to 28 children below 5 years of age with nutrition deficiencies.28 mothers were given 2 packets of Samaposha as a suppliment. Child specialist Dr. G.P.M.Jayawardane ,examined children with nutrition defficiencies individually . Lion Dhanapala , L/Lady Amitha & Sudharma with Leo Manuja helped distributions of medicine & food supplimentary.

Dr. Jayawardena was felicitated on this day ly Lions for his honorary service. Prescribed medicine & vitamins were provided to 24 children below 5 years of age with nutrition deficiencies.24 mothers were given 2 packets of Samaposha as a suppliment. Child specialist Dr. G.P.M.Jayawardane ,examined children with nutrition defficiencies individually . Lion Dhanapala , L/Lady Amitha & Sudharma with Leo Manuja helped distributions of medicine & food supplimentary.

25 prefects were awarded with their prefectships ( denoted by correspondent badges ) in the presence of 340 students & 184 parents. Donation was carried out after an audio-video visual Leadershipment presentation which was conducted by Lion Duminda Kothalawela , Region Chairman , Region 2 ,District 306 C1 ,Sri Lanka. All the parents gathered were really moved by the manner prefectships were awarded.

Professional Medical Practitioner Dr. G.M.A.Jayawardane examined all the children & medicine was prescribed by him. 26 children with deformities developed due to malnutrition had turned up for the clinic. They were treated & their mothers were provided with Samaposha , which is considered to be a balanced dietary nutrition.

Sri Sugunasara Daham Pasela is the biggest Daham Pasela in Kolonnawa area. It has a student population of 1200 students.All 1200 students were provided with 3 mts of white uniform materials & 3 books of 80 page single rule excercise books. Special prize winners were given certificates , shields & cups . District Governor , Past Governors ,Cabinet Secretary , CPE & many cabinet officers were present. Total Gathering was about 3000 including Teachers & Parents.
