"WE SERVE"

"We Serve" has been the identifying trait of the Kingsland Lions Club for the past 50 years. We were Chartered by Lions Clubs International on 19 January 1961. On that date, 34 gentlemen who were community leaders, signed the Club Charter. Many of their names are still visible throughout the Community on subdiviion and streets. Today the Club membership stands at 72 caring and enthusiastic members of all ages.

Since our beginning, Service to our Community has been foremost in our efforts. Whether it is serving on community boards, conducting Club fund raising events, or doing Club community service projects, we do serve. Our semi-annual Pancake Breakfast got its start as a Pancake Festival on November 1, 1986. Today, our Pancake Breakfast is held the Saturday of Easter weekend and the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. We usually serve between 500 and 600 individuals either weekend. In 1993 we held our first Kingsland Lions Charities Golf Tournament.

We have been giving back to the Community of Kingsland for over 50 years. During the past several years we have given back to the Community almost  $20,000 each year. This has been possible because of our fund raising efforts and the generosity of our members. Some of our local activities receiving funds are: Scholarships for three Llano High School Seniors; Meals on Wheels; Kingsland Little League; Share the Harvest; Salvation Army; and the SPCA "Adopt a Classroom" program at Packsaddle Elementary School. As one of our service projects, we conduct vision screening at Packsaddle Elementary School as well as many more in our district. Last year, we screened over 500 children at Packsaddle. We also collect trash 4 times a year along a 2 mile section of Ranch Road 1431 for the Texas Department of Transportation's "Adopt a Highway Program."

VISITORS WELCOME

We welcome you to visit with us at one of our meetings. We meet every 1st & 3rd Thursdays at Kingsland Community Church, located on Ranch Road 1431 in Kingsland, TX. Meetings start at 12:00 pm, with lunch served and various speakers. Our Board Meeting is held on the 1st Thursday, at 11:00 am.
