A History of Giving Back!
- Provided hundreds of eye exams & eye glasses for sight impaired
- Donated $5,000 to establishment of Eye Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center
- Obtained 1st stoplight & paid the monthly bill for 15 years
- Responsible for 1st King Volunteer Fire Department & the building where it was housed
- Developed Summer recreation programs, sponsored ball teams, bought ball uniforms, band uniforms, purchased land for ball fields,
- Made down payment for the land for King Recreation Acres. With the help of money raised from car raffles & grants, they contributed over $200,000 for the development of this recreational facility.
- Organized the first library & donated $10,000 to construction of present library building
- Originated concept of local hospital which resulted in construction of Stokes-Reynolds Hospital
- Contributed $10,000 to the construction of the local YMCA buildings.
