Fundraisers
Hotdog Fundraiser: Our club has been having a great time while offering the most affordable dinner you will find in the area. We provide reasonably priced hotdog meals for Gateway Park events. Come visit our booth, June 22 and October 19, both at Gateway Park, and enjoy an all beef hotdog, chips and your choice of drink all while supporting community members in need.
Holiday Door Decoration Sale: The brainchild of Lion Cindy Robison, club members collect and assemble beautiful Christmas decorations for sale during the holiday season. This fundraiser, with the donation of all supplies, proved to be very successful.
Laugh Out Loud Comedy Night: Comedians Jerry Miner and Duane Goad had us all "Roaring" with laughter (See what I did there? You know, like a lion). Charcuterie trays, soft pretzel with cheese, nacho dip with chips, beer, wine, soda rounded out the evening for a fantastic night out. We had so much fun we might just make it an annual event!

37th Annual Citizen of the Year Award Banquet:
On March 23, 2024 our club was happy to continue the tradition of celebrating our communities selfless, hard working, volunteers and charity workers. The Lions and the nominees enjoyed music, live artwork done by Chris Bronstad, a delicious dinner, dessert, guest speaker, raffles with great prizes, while enjoying the company of community members, friends and family.
Congratulations, Robert Fisher, our 2023 Citizen of the Year!
Robert is a Key Peninsula Firefighter who goes above and beyond his job description to help any needy citizen on the Key Peninsula. While on the job he takes notice of safety issues a resident may be having in or around their home. Robert is a talented "Handyman" and uses his skills, own money, and on his own time makes the arrangements with the homeowner to complete any repairs needed. His last comunity service project was to replace the subflooring and flooring that was causing a hardship for the wheelchair bound resident to manuver around the home. Robert is truely a special person who, in his own words "Is blessed with a wonderful supportive family and life and just wants to share his blessings with others." Thank you, Robert, for all you do!
Community Projects
Key Peninsula Lions Memorial Scholarship: Every year our club is honored to provide monetary scholarships to two deserving Peninsula High School Graduates. Students who demonstrate a high importance of community service on their graduation notebook is awarded the scholarship.
Adopt-A-Road: Our club is a proud member of the Pierce County Adopt-A-Road program. We take great pride in helping our neighborhood look better and be a safer, healthier environment for all residents including the critters.
Pierce County Adopt-A-Park Program: Recently, our club has joined the Adopt-A-Park program with Pierce County Parks Depertment by adopting the Home Park in the small town of Home. Our first assignment was to repaint the the shelter covering the picnic tables and then removing the moss from the roof (Our club built this same structure when the park was being developed as a previous project). Periodically throughout the year you will see us roaming the play area removing stray trash or debris, making it a safe environment for all who use the park.
White Cane Days: The Lions are well know for being the champions for sight. Once a year you will see us collecting donations at local storefronts. All funds donated are directed to local residents in need. We have provided many members of our community with free eye exams and glasses. We also collect used eye glasses and hearing aids for recycling and distribution to people in need all over the world. Donation boxes are located at:

Youth Exchange: Our Club has been instrumental in supplying host families for Youth Exchange, and has hosted more youth than any other club in the multiple district. For over 15 years the club has provided a member to work actively with the District and Multiple District Youth Exchange Program.
Flag Day: In 2010 the club started distributing 6" by 9" American flags to all third graders on the Key Peninsula and has continued the program every year.
Dictionary Project: Every Year, since 2011, the Key Peninsula Lions club have been handing out free dictionaries to each third and fourth grade student in the three Key Peninsula Elementary Schools. It is a wonderful sight to witness the smiling faces of aproximately 180 students as they receive our educational gift. As a bonus they are treated to a short lesson on the benefit of the dictionary as apposed to the spell check on a computer.
