Kenton Lions Club History
The Kenton Lions Club was formed on January 14, 1947. The Dunkirk Lions Club (defunct) originally sponsored our club. We are an active organization and concerned with our community.
We are the home of Lion *William “Bill” Price: District Governor (1990-91), A Progresive Melvin Jones Award recipient 1992, International President’s Award (2) and the Dick Bryan Fellow Award. PDG Bill was also Council Chairman of the MD13 Council of Governors (1991-92).
*Ken Barclay (1994), Cliff Biddinger Jr. (2001), John Siemon (2004), Pat Price (2004) *Leo Boston (2007), *Dean Tackett (2008), *Howard Watkins (2011), PCST Dave Amweg (2012), *Bud Winzenried (2013), *Dave Sturgeon (2013),*Willis Anderson (2014) Todd Oates (2017), George "Judd" Robinson (2018) and Jason Van Buskirk (2024) are honorees of the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. The Kenton Lions Club is also proud of its contributions to Lionism beyond the local level. We are the home club for many Lions who have been honored with State, District and International awards. Lion *Mike Kissling named one of the five Council of Governors Award of Merit honorees for 2001. Lion Bill Keller served as District Governor (2011-2012) and has received a Melvin Jones Fellow (2008) and a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (2021), Dick Bryan and two Jim Coffey Fellowship Awards. In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including five International President’s Leadership Medals, seven International Presidents certificates, four Council of Governors Award of Merit, two Governors Appreciation Medals and a builder key. Lion Bill is the webmaster for the Kenton Lions Club and the Ohio Lions Pin Traders.
