Historic Kempsville Family Fun Fest

Eyeglass Recyling

Kempsville Lions Club volunteering at the Virginia Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Chesapeake. The latter provides used eyeglasses to various missions sponsored by Lions. Used eyeglasses have been shipped to Honduras, Guyana, Peru, Ukraine, Guatemala, Brazil, Thailand, Romania, Haiti, Brazil, Nicaragua, Malawi, Dominican Republic, St. Croix, Puerto Rico, Israel, the Republic of Congo, and Ecuador. The center has also sent glasses to the Republic of Sri Lanka and Mexico for use in their permanent distribution centers. In addition, the center partners with local organizations to conduct international health fairs and expeditions. The center received a donation of approximately 264,000 pairs of sunglasses (worth US$2 million) from Gifts-In-Kind International.

The Kempsville Lions Club is participating in TREX recycling program. Help us in our efforts - ALL YOU NEED TO DO - collect soft plastic (SEE FLYER), place in a clear plastic bag. One of our members can pick them up (Virginia Beach ONLY) OR you can text me (757-749-6586) a picture & weight of your collections and drop off at Harris Teeter., Food Lion or Wegmans!! PLEASE JOIN OUR EFFORTS - or DM Kempsville Lions Club.

Stand Up for Kids Meal

Date:   March 16th 7:00-9:00pm
Location:  At the Potters House. 1709 Pacific Avenue. 
Details:  30 meals prepped, cooked and ready to serve.  
Meal:  Shepards Pie, vegetable and desserts.

White Cane  & Broom Sale - We will be holding a white cane event and broom sales - Dates TBA

Activities

100% of funds raised and collected from the public are returned to the community in the form of projects, programs and donations.

Some of our projects include:

Sight and Hearing Conservation - Provide eye and hearing exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids for indigent persons. Collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids for recycling.

Sight and Hearing Van - Conduct hearing, sight and glaucoma test free.

Leader Dog School - Club sponsors eligible blind people to attend the Leader Dog School in Rochester, MI.
