Club Projects

The Lions of Kalama proudly support the following projects as well as others brought to our attention by the community. If you have a project for us, please contact any of our members or send us an email at kalamalions@kalama.com:

  • Provide Eye Exams and glasses locally to those in need.
  • Collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids*
  • Support White Cane Days (sight and hearing program support)
  • Host Lions Health Screen Unit annually at Kalama Elementary School
  • Fund scholarships
  • Host Lions Easter Egg Hunt
  • Distribute Christmas Baskets
  • Support Kalama Helping Hand and area shelters through Walk and Knock drive and other ways
  • Promote and help support the Kalama Community building
  • Support various youth programs including Little League, Softball, Soccer, and many other activities
  • Recycle paper, hold an annual garage sale, conduct pancake breakfasts.
  • Cooling Station during August Car Show: Offering FREE OtterPops and Water to all.
  • Sponsor and Support Boy Scout Troop 307.

* Used eyeglasses are recycled by Lion Volunteers at the The Northwest Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center. Used Hearing Aids collected are refurbished by NWLERC and distributed to those in need in Cowlitz County.

NWLERC was founded by area Lions Clubs and is recognized by Lions Clubs International as an official Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center. It is a Washington State chartered, IRS authorized 501 (c) 3 corporation.

Our Mission: To provide used eyeglasses free of charge to people in remote areas of developing countries, delivered at the hands of volunteer eye care professionals.
