WE FEED THE HUNGRY
155 million children under the age of five are stunted due to chronic malnutrition. 1/3 of annual food production is lost or wasted throughout the supply chain. 33% of women of reproductive age suffer from anaemia.
In reference to the above global statistics, Kakira lions beleive that "true community improvement depends on the thriving of its members" To combat food insecurity, Kakira lions relentlessly feed communities to see them flourishing. We must do this because we see how global hunger and nutrition crisis bears upon other communities.
More than 5,519 people have already benefitted from our hunger releif initiatives
Our plan is aimed at ensuring that all our community members have access to nutritious foods - and we shall feed more than 4,500 people this lionistic year.
WE JELOUSLY PROTECT AND CONSERVE THE ENVIRONMENT
We have established numerous interventions to help protect, conserve and restore the environment but planting of trees has been unique and outstanding for our club. Trees are vital in our ecosystem. Often known as the "lungs of the earth", they play a pivotal role in restoring carbondioxide and producing oxygen. They are key in stablizing soils and reducing temperature, humidity and flooding. As such, protecting, preserving and planting trees represents a real opprtunity for carbon foot print compensation and fighting global warming.
To date, we have planted over 850,021 trees, serving about 22,210 people.
WE CARE FOR THE BLIND
Over 253 million people are blind or have moderate to severe distance vision imparement (MSVI). 1.1 billion people have near-vision imparement simply because thet don't have a pair of glasses yet more than 75% of all blindness and MSVI is avoidable. 89% of people with visual imparement live in developing countries.
Kakira lions club joins the rest of the world to prevent avoidable blindness and improve the quality of life for people who are blind and visually impared. we remain committed to continuing this mission as part of our pivotal services. This way, we have served more than 1,095 people and advocated for thr blind and visually impared persons in our communities.
