Lionism is a spirit within Lions Clubs where members feel the need to help solve recognized problems and needs of the community through use of their own resources. The clubs are non-political and non-sectarian groups of persons from all facets of community life who work to enhance cooperation among all agencies and organizations to meet and alleviate needs not only in their own country but also in over 200 countries throughout the world.

In Kakira Sugar, the spirit and philosophy of lionism was introduced by the Madhvani family in 1950’s.

The Late Mr. Jayant Madhvani together with Mr. Mayur Madhvani and Mr. Nikesh Madhvani are the MJ members of the club.

Kakira Lions Club was chartered in 1993 with 45 members consisting primarily the employees of Kakira Sugar Ltd; the flagship of Madhvani Group of companies. The club grew year after year from 45 members to a tune of 86 members. The club serves the local communities who are needy and less fortunaten through implementation of various projects and activities.

Since its inception, Kakira Lions Club continues to receive strong support and encouragement from the Madhvani family.

The club focuses its services to the eastern region, exerting tremendous influence for welfare, amity, and human progress socially, culturally and economically.

Other objectives of Kakira Lions Club include but not limited to the following:-

  • To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the Kakira fraternity.
