How it started
The idea first took root in the mind of a group of golfers named JB Rovers in 1995, to explore with business associate mainly from the hardware & Machinery trade the possibility of forming a Lions Club, which would emphasize community service as their primary goal besides golf game and fellowship.
They met in New Lucky Restaurant and agreed that the Lions Club will be formed. The proposed name of the Club as JB Rovers was renamed to Lions Club of Johor Bahru City ( JB City ) in conjunction with the declaring of City status of Johor Bahru District in 1st January 1996.
Charter history
Lion David Tan was the Charter President and the Club was chartered on 8th January 1996. The Club organised a charter night celebration on 1st march 1996 at Hotel Grand Continental. The District Governor at that time was Lion Hjh Ellis Suriyati, Region Chairman Lion Koo Chi Seng and Zone Chairman is Lion Eric Tan who is also the Guiding Lion of the club. The Club have 24 members at the time of Chartered.
