Whilst a relatively young club in operation for a little over thirteen years, the club has already been actively involved in a number of local community projects. Using a number of means of raising funds, the club has been able to support local community projects in the following areas.
Murdoch Community Hospice Project, our major project for 2000 was the building of a Gazebo and the paving of a number of atrium areas. This was completed and handed over to the Hospice.
Assist with local sporting events and functions
Support for Drug awareness campaign also Lions Skin Cancer Foundation and Lions Eye Institute
Donations to charities
Support for East Timor and the Tsunami Appeal also the tragic South Australian Bushfire appeal and the earthquake in China and Haiti.
Also the recent bush-fires in Victoria and Western Australia.
Our club has also been involved in tree planting
Our Lions Club is also supplying and cooking a meal for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House in Subiaco, on a Saturday evening every two months.
We are also doing sausage sizzles, recycling aluminum cans and paper to raise money for our activities account.
Over the past year we have purchased two gophers which we loan to disabled persons in our area, this is done in consultation with the Disabled Association
Over the last 3 years our Social Director Geraldine Ogilby has organized a Mystery Tour outing for us. These have been very successful and we eagerly look forward to the next one.
