Lionism came to India in 1956 and to Jamshedpur in 1959 when LIONS Club of Jamshedpur was inaugurated by District Governor Lion Noshier N.Pundole of Dist 304 on 20th April,1959 at 11.30am at Beldih Club Library under the presidentship of Charter Presedent Ln.R.S.Pande with 33(thirty three) Charter Members. It was the first Lions Club to be formed in Bihar. Incidentally, on the same day at 8.00pm Lions Club of Dhanbad was also inaugurated. The Charter from Lions International was presented on21st August 1959 in the presence of distinguish citizens of Jamshedpur besides s members of Lions Clubs of Calcutta, Delhi and Dhanbad. Since its inception, Lions Clubs of Jamshedpur engaged in various service projects and activities for the benefit of the less privileged, poor, needy and handicapped persons of the society.Our major projects are mentioned herewith, which are running very effectively under the senior leaders of our club.
