The Jackson Eyeopeners Lions Club was chartered on February 9, 1977 under the sponsorship of the Jackson Host Club. The name of the club was the first order of business for the 25 chartered members. The name Eyeopeners denotes the main mission of the club and also the time day the club meets. Lauren Flick is our only chartered members of the club who was named the Lions of Michigan Foundation Humanitarian of the year for his work Jamaica. Margaret Parker was the first female member in 1989. The membership was at it's max of 60 in 1978 and was at 10 in 1986. Currently, we currently have 33 members. Our club has been named district club of the year in 1978-79, 1994-95, 2003-04, 2004-05. the club received the International President's 5 Star Club Award for 1997-98 and has received the International President's membership and retention award since 2001-02. The Eyeopeners have earned the District Governor's Award of Merit since it's inception in 1997-98.
