Hudson, New York Lions Club, District 20-O

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 205 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. The International Association of Lions Clubs began as the dream of Chicago businessman Melvin Jones in 1917. He believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large. Today weare the largest service organization in the world.

Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired? This service began when Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness" during the association's 1925 international convention. "From that date to now, the primary mission of the Lions of the world has been to prevent blindness."

Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities.
