Merrylands Lions Club was chartered in 1973 and proudly supported the people of Merrylands. Numerous successful events were held including hosting of the 2nd FESPIC games.
With membership numbers declining, it was agreed in late 2000 that a revamp of the club was needed. Thus, in May 2001 the Holroyd City Lions Club was chartered with a combination of members from the Merrylands club and enthusiastic new members. The change in name was taken to better reflect the geographical area they service.
The club is made up of both men and women, young and old who all share a common ideal: - We Serve.
Members volunteer their time and skills to assist those in the community, locally, nationally and internationally, that require assistance. During the many natural disasters that have occurred in recent history, local Lions Clubs have, with the financial assistance of clubs from around the world, provide support at the grass roots level with local people knowing what local people need.
Holroyd Lions have provided numerous mobility devices to children in our area to assist them in gaining independence. We have funded local disabled athletes to attend sporting competitions.
We are proud sponsors of the annual Parramatta Eisteddfod.
