Laura was born in Tyler but graduated from Lorena High. Her favorite vacation destinations are New York City and New Orleans, and her hobbies are reading, writing, cooking and painting. She’s currently trying to learn to cook Indian dishes. When she was little, Laura dreamed of being a zookeeper, but she loves her job as PR coordinator at the Greater Hewitt Chamber. Laura joined the Hewitt Lions in 2014 and enjoys knowing the Hewitt Lions make a positive impact in our community.
Alissa Cady, Member Since 2014
Alissa was born and raised in Waco and graduated from Midway High School. She loves vacationing on the Texas coast and enjoys kayaking, amusement parks, looking at Christmas lights in her Dodge Durango (fits all three kids!), church activities and spending time with her family, which includes husband Chris, 4-year-old Christian and 15-month-old twins Knox and Kennedy. When she was little, Alissa wanted to be a cheer coach or attorney. Alissa’s favorite part of being a Lion is meeting good people and helping her community.

David Scott
David Scott was born in Ruidoso, NM and graduated from Las Cruces High School, also in New Mexico. David worked with Social Security for over 40 years and enjoys reading, golf and visiting the mountains of Colorado. Having joined the Hewitt Lions Club in 2014, David’s favorite part of being a lion is the friendships and serving the community.
Donald Slimp, Member Since 1996
Don was born in Lipan, Texas and raised on a 360 acre farm, which included livestock, commercial crops, a garden and an orchard. After graduating from Santo High School, Don received a degree in Industrial Technology from Tarleton State University. Don and his wife, Carol, moved to Hewitt shortly after, and he began working at Time Manufacturing in 1974. Their daughters, Mandy and Karla, both now live in the Houston area. Don’s hobbies include camping, hunting and just enjoying the outdoors! Joining the Hewitt Lions Club in 1996, Don’s favorite part of being a Lion is the fellowship and friendships. Don currently serves as club secretary.

Brenda Tidwell, Member Since 2013
Brenda was born in Carlsbad, NM and graduated from Snyder High School. Her favorite place to go on vacation is Oahu, and her hobbies include making jewelry, singing and playing keyboard. Just don’t rush Brenda! That’s her biggest pet peeve. Brenda dreamed of being a singer or teacher when she was little and has fulfilled that dream by teaching in public schools and at the college level. Brenda joined the Hewitt Lions in April 2013 and enjoys visiting with everyone at the bimonthly meetings.
Robert Tidwell, Member Since 1998
Robert was born in Del Rio and graduated from Brackett High School. He enjoys visiting Big Bend National Park and loves Mexican food, hunting and leatherwork. When he was little, Robert wanted to be a game warden when he grew up, but he instead pursued a career in education. Robert became a Lion in 1998, and his favorite part of being a Lion is serving others. And serve he does! Robert is currently the Hewitt Lions Club president, and he also serves as zone chair.
