The Lions CLub of Helensville Needs You!
The Lions Club of Helensville has thrived in our community for 62 years since forming in 1962.
It all began with the purchase of an ambulance and the building of Helensville’s first Ambulance Station.
We don’t shy away from local issues. When in 1998 the two banks in town announced that they were leaving, the club organized the biggest public meeting seen to date to protest.
The A&P Show has been another area of service and source of funds where the club caters for the officials as well as having a kiosk selling refreshments.
The club was one of the first Lions clubs to produce a local community telephone directory, which has been a great source of funds, and continues to the present.
The Kaipara Riverside Walkway was another large project undertaken by the club.
The club played a part in the development of Rautawhiri Park and we supplied the fitness trail at the park.
The first book fair was held in March 2007 and proved so popular that it is now held twice a year with over 20,000 books offered for sale, a great source of funds for use in the community.
Then there was the Playground behind the library, a Helicopter Pad, Running of the Roses, the Heritage Trail, Santa Parade and more.
You may have seen our BBQ trailer. It is often seen providing the best sausages and other food at the monthly Kaukapakapa Market as well as various other community events during the year.
We are looking for new members. Could you be one?
We meet twice a month for a business meeting and social event.
Helensville Lions are always prepared to accommodate members with different work or personal situations, and all are welcome.
