Club Projects

Our club likes to try and pack in as many events as we can into a year but are always looking for new and interesting opportunities and ideas for fundraisers and activities. Below you can find some of the events that we participate in as well as fundraisers that we hold.

Red Cross Blood Drives

Our club participates closely with the Red Cross to help schedule and volunteer at the blood drives that take place within our town.  The blood drives are our most frequent events throughout the year.

Eyeglass Collection and Sorting

Every year our club members look forward to our December meeting when we sort all of the eyeglasses that we have collected throughout the year. This is a fun, informal meeting where club members get together to eat and socialize while accomplishing a very important task. All intact glasses that we collect get donated.

Mother’s Day Rose Sale

The Mother’s Day rose sale is our largest fundraising event! We offer a dozen of large beautiful red roses for a reasonable price. This is one of our favorite events to do and many of our customers come back year after year to purchase roses from our club. Many club members hand-deliver roses on Mother’s Day which makes this event even more convenient for our customers.

Fourth of July Balloons!!!

One of our favorite events that our club members look forward to our Fourth of July  where we distribute Balloons to children and parade attendees. This is a fun way to give back to our community.

Hamilton Public Library

We are grateful that we are able to use the community room in the Hamilton Public Library for our club meetings. To show our gratitude we donate to the library so that they can purchase items such as large print books. These types of donations enable more community members to enjoy what our public library has to offer.

 New Events/Fundraisers:

                               Adopt-a-Highway

Our club participates in the Adopt-a-Highway program, we adopted a two mile stretch of Route 12B to the south of the town of Hamilton, NY. We typically clean the road three times per year (fall, spring and summer). We believe that this is a very good community service program to participate in because it helps keep the roads in our town clean and beautiful.

Rogers Environmental Education Center Cleanup

This year our club was determined to participate in more hands on service projects. After researching local organizations we decided to contact Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne, NY. On Sunday, June 7th  2015 the Hamilton Lions Club geared up and put on their waders and got dirty. The group helped clean out some of theTrout ponds at the Nature Center.

Election Day Spaghetti Dinner

This past year we held our first ever pay-what-you-want spaghetti dinner on Election Day. Having never done an event like this before, we were unsure how successful it would be. It turned out to be a great fundraiser and a fun time for our club members. We enjoyed cooking for and serving food to our local community members and are looking forward to holding this event again in the future. Each year we donate leftover food to the Hamilton Food Cupboard.
