The Advantages of Being a Lion:
What's in it for YOU? 3 Really Good Reasons!
1) The opportunity to make a difference! - As an individual you can have limited impact, but as part of a group, you can achieve so much more in your community, country, and even the world!
2) Energize! - We don't just Talk the Talk, we Walk the Walk!
Lions have fun. If there isn't an opportunity to have fun or an otherwise rewarding experience, we probably aren't involved.
Friendship. In an increasingly complex world, Lions provides one of the most basic human needs - the need for friends and friendship. The opportunity to meet other "like-minded" people, locally and around the world, with whom you can expect to establish close, life long, relationships.
Lions become aware of other cultures and learn to love and work with people everywhere. Around the world, practically every religion, country, culture, race, creed, political persuasion, language, color and ethnic identity is found in Lions.
Every Lion is welcome to attend the 28,000+ clubs in more than 180 nations and geographical areas of the world. Some 1.4 million men and women are Lions - and they are all your friends.
Assistance when traveling. Because there are Lions clubs everywhere, help is only a phone call away should you need it. Using the International Directory, you can easily contact the local Lions Club, wherever you are.
The average Lions Club has at its heart the intention to make the community a better place in which to live, and does this with a variety of local programs tailored to the community's needs.
Network with people in your community and around the world.
We're a "Family" organization. Many married couples are members and children of Lions frequently carry on the tradition.
Community awareness. Interesting guest speakers bring a range of views and information for club members.
Entertainment. Lions Clubs organize many different activities that provide entertainment as well as education.
Leadership - every Lions member has the opportunity to serve in a variety of challenging positions, most local but many can be District, National and even International.
Character. All Lions Clubs embrace the same set of ethics and each member is expected to be ethical in business and personal relationships.
3) The opportunity to serve. Lions is a service club. Our motto is simple, but it says it all. "We Serve". A wide range of programs providing help for the disadvantaged both locally in internationally - Sightfirst, a worldwide program to eradicate preventable blindness, Leader dogs for the blind and Hearing dogs for the deaf, research funding for the bionic ear project, provision of mobility aids for children, and a multitude of unique programs developed to address a local or regional need are but a few that stand to highlight our incredible service to our fellow man.
