The Lions Club of Grovedale/Waurn Ponds

PRESIDENT’S REPORT June 2026

I would like to thank all members of the Club for their support during the past year. Each member of the Club has contributed to its success during this time. Every member has played a role and accepted all challenges given.

We welcomed two new members into the Club in Lion Jill & Lion Linda. Both of these members have accepted a role in the coming year. We wish them a long, happy and enjoyable time ahead as Lions.

On a sad note, we lost three members who passed away. Charter Member Lion Gordon Harwood, Lion Bert Higginson and Lion David Ridley. All three served as President of our Club. These three members combined gave over 140 years’ service to Lions. They are sadly missed, as each contributed greatly to our Club.

The Club Continues with its usual projects with Lions Christmas Cakes, Feed Me Surfcoast, Bunnings BBQ’s, Eye Glass Recycling, Winchelsea Repertory Night, Lions Collection Containers & Community Raffle.

We have had visits to the Lions Club of Leopold, Geelong Hamlyn Heights, Sunshine and Werribee.

We had several members attend the 201V2 District Convention.

We are grateful to the Lions Club of Leopold and Geelong Corio Bay for giving us the opportunity to assist with their projects that help us to raise funds.

Finally, I would like to wish incoming President Jan every success in her year ahead as President.

PDG Allan Reeve

Thanks for visiting us;

Would you like to join us?

You might be wondering, what does Lions membership require of me?

All it entails is the amount of time and energy you feel you can put in.

The Lions organisation is not religiously based and is not politically affiliated.  Basically, Lions are people who enjoy getting together to help others and having a good time while doing so.

There are two meetings each month of no more than 90 minutes.  One of these is a dinner meeting and the other a business meeting.  Beyond that, time commitment is totally down to the individual member as to how much you can assist on club projects.  From my experience, most people enjoy the company of fellow Lions working together on worthwhile projects and activities.

The Lions Club of Grovedale/Waurn Ponds needs more members to assist with community efforts in the local area; wider efforts on a national front; and also to contribute in a small way internationally.

So, what are you waiting for?  Have a chat to us.  We’d love to have you as a member.

Just send us an email to make contact.  Our email address can be found in the ‘Contact Us’ box.

Remember:  Kindness Matters - Kindness defines who we are as Lions. And why we serve.

An act of kindness may be small and personal, or large and profound. When nearly 1.4 million men and women come together to serve, it represents a dynamic force for good.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
