CLUB PROJECTS
Hampton School. Join us to work in this elementary school in Greensboro. We help with literacy programs at Hampton, summer camps and literacy instructionl, and book gifts to students each semester in cooperation with Reading Connections.
Vision. We visit local elementary schools to conduct vision testing with the school nurse, and we staff the VISION VAN when it visits Greensboro annually to provide free vision/hearing testing to those in need. We help staff the Lions Holiday Party for the sight-impaired, collect large numbers of eyeglasses for those who need them. Our next vision project may be to purchase a high-tech VISION SCANNER to use with children who need to be examined to look for serious undetected eye conditions that could lead to permanent blindness if not caught in time.
Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army at Friendly Center. We'll be near the Friendly Avenue entrance at Macy's again in December to help raise funds for the Salvation Army.
Fund Raising. All of these projects, and many others, cost money. We run a parking concession at Stamey's Barbecue near the Greensboro Coliseum to raise the necessary funds. It is not unusual for Hamilton Lakes Lions to raise and spend as much as $15,000 - $17,000 annually on the many charities to which we contribute.
