Tucson Sammy Jo Service Branch Club
Our branch club, #135706, was formed in June, 2018. They belong to the Globe Lions Club and are a specialty branch. It's sole purpose is to raise funds and awareness for our Arizona Lions Camp Tatiyee, a certified special needs camp located in Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona. The camp has been in operation since 1958 and provides one week camping opportunities for ages 7 and above for nine weeks each each summer in the cool(er) White Mountains high country. Camp is free to each camper and is staffed by special needs counselors who ensure that individual campers enjoy one week of being with others just like them to enjoy traditional camping experiences such as swimming, archery, crafts and so much more.
Our branch is named in honor of Lion Sammy Jo Craven, a dynamic, vivacious, energetic Tucson community organizer and volunteer, who was tragically killed in April 2018 in a car crash. Sammy Jo was anxious to become a member of the new branch to continue her Lions service. She served as District 21-B Cabinet Secretary 2015-2016.
