This is going to be an exciting year for our club as many of us know that this is our clubs 96th birthday. Plus while the convention is going on, there will be a silent and live auction on board as we are trying to raise funds for a very good cause, for the AHS Lions Blind Camp. This is a very big project and well it is our main focus this year to help support them in their quest to teach and have fun at the camp as it teaches our young the main ingredients to be self successful in their day to day life.
Our main fund raiser for the year is our 23rd Annual PDG Classsic Memorial here in Gillette. The date set for this year is August 9, 2020. Shot gun start for the tourney. Call and make your reservations for a fun event that has been growing well. 14 teams participated last year and we hope that it will even get bigger. Yeah Lions lets make them "ROAR".
After that event we will entertain our 8th Annual Turkey Shoot here in Gilllette. The place is the Gillette Gun and they gracioully let us use their facility to hanlde such an fun event. Young and old alike have come to enjoy fellowship and community support . Hope to see all of you there again and we are even planning other items for this event this year. The date for such a great event is November 21, 2020 and it starts at 10:00 a.m. in the morning till all the birds are gone.
This past year we gave out a total of 75 birds to the local shooters and guess what, they all left the gun club that day as happy turkey hunters. It was exciting to see many new faces there, even the ones that have been coming to this fun event . It just keeps growing and we look forward to another great year this year.
We also support our local communty with supporting the local chapters of Council of Community Service, Salvation Army ( Bell ringers) for a good cause, GARF , CASA, and the local Soup Kitchen for those in need. Also this past year we donated turkeys to our Senior Center to serve those that have been gracious to all in the community. We also came to the call this past winter when the community asked us to help with the Secret Santa program and our club donated money to those less fortunate.
