ABOUT US

  • Lions are an international network of 1.4 million men and women in approximately 45,000 clubs located in more than200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Known for working to  end preventable blindness, Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities.
  • These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters.Beginning in 1917, the association of Lions clubs has provided millions of people with the opportunity to give something back to their communities. Lions Club of Gandhidham was Inaugurated on 28th June 1965 and got its Charter from Lions Clubs International on 9th Jan 1966.
  • This, 58 years old club is the oldest club in Kutch District and one of the few 80 plus clubs of the entire District 3232 J. With Indent No. 4900, Club No. 026211, our club belongs to Region I, Zone II of District 3232 J.
  • It proudly boasts of its own building on ‘Lions Marg’ off the main Tagore road, with a huge community centre and a big parking lot. We also have a very big ‘Lions park’ adjacent to our building.
  •  With strength of 181 dedicated Lions our club is regarded as one of the best NGOs of our area, providing services to different parts of the society. A unique aspect about our club is that it is a truly cosmopolitan club having members belonging to almost all the community & states of India.
  • Under its wings it also has a Leo club which provides young generation a platform to try their leadership skills in providing mmunity services to society. Both these clubs have also been doing wonderful services under the leadership of Lions.In 1990,
  • Lions launched its most aggressive sight preservation effort, SightFirst. The US$202 million program strives to rid the world of preventable and reversible blindness by supporting desperately needed health care services.
  • In addition to sight programs, Lions Club of Gandhidham is committed to providing services for youth.
  • Lions clubs also work to improve the environment
  • Built homes for the earthquake victims
  • Support diabetes education & Childhood cancer
  • Conduct hearing programs and, through their LCIF foundation
  • Provide disaster relief around the world. We also have projects like, Sapling distribution, Tricycle distribution, Medical camps in villages and different schools, Diabetic retinopathy camps, painting competitions for school children, Felicitation of teachers and entertainment programmes on teachers’ day, fruits distribution to patients in hospitals, Khadi distribution on Gandhi Jayanti and many other activities throughout the year.

Club has been carrying our various community service activities thru out the year but there are some services which are being provided to township on permanent basis.
