FREELTON LIONS VILLA
The Freelton Lions Villa celebrated their 25th anniversary July 15, 2017. The building started as a school in 1952, and served for 40 years in that capacity. In 1992 the building was converted to a 29 unit, geared to income seniors independent living apartment building. This project was spearheaded by the Freelton Lions, and with the help of various community groups and government agencies, it was completed. It is now managed by the Freelton Lions Villa Board, consisting of representatives from the Freelton Lions and other community groups, together with a property management company. Their superintendent, Kathy Johnson, has won a Hamilton Trillium Award for the beautiful gardens and landscaping.
The Villa Board invited all the residents as well as the Freelton Lions Club and their families, to a big celebration. Free hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings were served from the Lions' food trailer by members of the Board and the Lions Club, and salads and desserts, including 2 anniversary cakes and ice cream were served in the kitchen of the building.
Entertainment was provided by the Puslinch Fiddlers.
