Forsythia Festival in March,.................... White Cane days in April,.............A Giant Yard Sale is planned for May 21, 2011, at the American Legion hall on Main St. in Forsyth.   Mop and Broom sales all year.................. Support of Sight and hearing conservation for those in financial need...................... Support the various Lions projects;.... Ga. Lions Lighthouse; ..........Ga. Lions Camp for the Blind; .....................Leader Dogs and others. .................... Sponsor Community Birthday Calendar, now for the 46th year. ...........................Sponsored since 1991, the International Peace Poster contest, having 2 international merit winners; with William (Billy) Myers in 2002 and Jordan Harris, 2004. ................ In October 2005, Jordan was notified his poster image was selected for a UN postage stamp. He received a nice folder containing a letter and a commerative sheet of his Stamp, an 80 cent stamp. .................The Peace Poster contest is for 11, 12, and 13 year olds is now in progress. For youth in Monroe County -- rules for entering may be picked up at the Monroe County Reporter, or Call, Cecil Daniels at 477-6790. Deadline for turning in posters for judging is Nov. 6, 2009. The Theme for 2009-2010 is "The Power of Peace" . There will be 3 contest offered: 1. Hubbard Middle School, 2.Banks Stephens Middle School, 3. Home School (open) with Mrs. Mary Ellen Strickland in charge.
