Tornado Beautification
2024 UPDATE:
In 2024, the Forada Lions continued the Tornado beautification program which was funded by business and individual donations. By September 27th, 299 Black Hills Spruce, Hydrangeas, Weigelas, Spirea and Dogwood flowering shrubs were purchased and distributed to homeowners. In addition the Lions employed Jesse Fisher of County Line Creations to create and help design metal signage commemorating this event. The sign can be seen just off the road outside of the Forada Fire Department. This distribution marked the end of the two year Beautificaiton Program the Forada Lions had initiated.
We thank everyone for their support!
Original post:
On May 31, 2022 the lives of hundreds of people who live in Forada and Hudson township Minnesota were turned upside down when an EF2 tornado walked through the town and surrounding area.
One year later the Tornado Beautification program was initated by the Forada Lions club. Monies were and still are being raised from businesses and individuals to purchase trees to replace those trees lost in the storm. By October 2, 2023 80 trees had been delivered to homeowners for them to plant. Donations are continuing and will be utilized in the spring of 2024.
The Forada Lions could not have been able to purchase any trees without the support from the individuals and businesses. Thank you!
