Get Ready for the Festive Season - Lions Christmas Cakes Are Back!
It’s almost that magical time of year again! The smell of tinsel, the sound of carols, and yes, the glorious return of Australia’s favourite Christmas treat— the Lions Christmas Cake!
These aren’t just any cakes; they’re the fruitcake with a purpose, here to make your holiday sweeter and your community stronger.
Packed with over 50% fruit and made from top-notch natural ingredients, Lions Christmas Cakes are here to raise the (cake) bar and some much-needed funds for local causes.
When you grab a Lions Christmas Cake, you’re not just indulging in a seasonal treat, you’re making a real impact. Every delicious bite helps fuel projects that keep our communities thriving. From city streets to the outback, the funds raised go straight into Lions Clubs across Australia to support initiatives that matter.
In recent years, our regional communities have been hit hard, from pandemic struggles to natural disasters. As we brace for yet another bushfire season, the proceeds from these cakes are absolutely crucial.
Lions Christmas Cakes help fund emergency relief, recovery efforts, and a host of other vital community programs. Yep, these cakes do way more than just satisfy your sweet tooth—they’re helping people get back on their feet.
And it doesn’t stop there – Lions Clubs are busy all year round, supporting projects like youth programs, medical research, disability aid, and environmental work.
This cake is a true multitasker, raising millions since 1965, with every crumb contributing to something bigger than just a holiday dessert.
As Lions Australia CEO Rob Oerlemans puts it, “For nearly six decades, our Lions Christmas Cakes have not only been proudly Australian-made, but their impact has been immeasurable.”
You’re not just buying a cake—you’re investing in disaster relief, childhood cancer research, and so many other life-changing initiatives.
The Lions Christmas Cake recipe is made in Victoria by Traditional Foods.
As we gear up for another holiday season, now's the time to stock up and spread the word.

Donation to Wembley Downs Primary School Canteen
We helped Wembley Downs School Canteen to replace kitchen equipment that was no longer operational. A huge benefit to the school canteen lunch service.
Lions 75th Anniversary Garden
The Floreat Lions Club is proud to be connected with this wonderful Community project and have it as part of the Commemorative Garden project by planting 75 gardens across Australia.
The Community Food Forest in City Beach started in February this year when the Town of Cambridge allocated 900 sq metres of land to a dedicated group of volunteers who wanted to make a difference in their Community.
Pumpkins, Watermelon, Fava Beans, Dragon Fruit, Potatoes, Daikon Radish and many more have flourished and now spring has arrived the fruit and nut trees are being planted with the help of a wonderful donation from the Floreat Lions Club.
We have a Community Food Forest where the local Community can attend to either volunteer or just wander through and enjoy the garden and the produce.
Local School Donation
Lake Monger Primary School had the official opening of their new Nature Playground which we gave a donation towards. Dave Spencer attended and was pleased that a Lions Plaque will be placed on the seating.
Local Groups Grants and Donations
Floreat Lions was proud to host Anita, Sam, and Paula at our February dinner meeting. Local community members who were seeking support for community-based projects that have been championed. Floreat Lions is pleased to announce we have been able to offer grants to both the Lake Monger Primary School Nature Play and "Stars Unplugged"
Floreat Lions = Connection with your community
Stars Unplugger = Connection with self
Nature Play = Connection with Nature
Great things happen when like-minded people come together
Grants for Schools
Here is a sample of what we do in Floreat Lions, membership is your chance to help a whole community.
Local Schools Grants and Donations
Recognising that 2020 has been a difficult year for most school P&Cs to raise funds, Floreat Lions undertook to support its local primary school groups by offering funds for key projects.
A special donation was also made to a charity that provides birthday party packages for children in need.
For a few schools with larger projects, Floreat Lions has committed to working closely with these schools in the new year as their projects start to take shape.
In total, we donated nearly $24,000 worth of grants to schools and community groups.
Our work however cannot continue unless we attract new members from our community (with parents and friends of schools an important demographic).
Recognition through school newsletters, websites, or notices is also important to us to promote the valuable work we do.
City Beach Primary School Native Bush Food Garden Project
Floreat Lions proudly supported the native bush food garden project "Malak Merenyj Bidi" undertaken by City Beach Primary School. This project was supported by our club because of its educational benefit to the students while demonstrating an appreciation of the natural environment.
Floreat Lions Co-Sponsor of Cambridge Canines
Floreat Lions was proud to support the "Cambridge Canines - Dogs Day Out" event held at Perry Lakes. The event was run by the Town of Cambridge which is a fantastic supporter of local community groups. In addition to providing sponsorship prizes for Floreat Lions, we ran the sausage sizzle on the day. Around 500 people and about 60 dogs made it out to join the day.
This is a great example of the sort of flexible volunteering options Floreat Lions offers. Our club has a simple motto of "serving the community" which allows us to participate in just about any project that returns funds back to the community in which they are raised. Many people wrongly think volunteering will be an impediment to their spare time. Volunteering can involve as little as an hour a month to help support your community.
All funds raised will benefit the Shenton Park Dogs Home.
