Youth of the Year Program
The Lions Youth of the Year program has a proud history in encouraging and fostering leadership skills in Australian students approaching the end of their high school years.
By emphasising qualities like contribution to the community and school, public speaking, academic skills, sporting and cultural involvement, Youth of the Year aims to bring forth the next generation of outstanding young Australians.
Congratulations!
Nibesh Khatri (from Perth Modern) was our Club winner for Youth of the Year and he will represent us at the District Final.
Well Done, Nibesh. Keep it up.

Donation to Wembley Downs Primary School Canteen

We helped Wembley Downs School Canteen to replace kitchen equipment that was no longer operational. A huge benefit to the school canteen lunch service.

Lions 75th Anniversary Garden
The Floreat Lions Club is proud to be connected with this wonderful Community project and have it as part of the Commemorative Garden project by planting 75 gardens across Australia.
The Community Food Forest in City Beach started in February this year when the Town of Cambridge allocated 900 sq metres of land to a dedicated group of volunteers who wanted to make a difference in their Community.
Pumpkins, Watermelon, Fava Beans, Dragon Fruit, Potatoes, Daikon Radish and many more have flourished and now spring has arrived the fruit and nut trees are being planted with the help of a wonderful donation from the Floreat Lions Club.
We have a Community Food Forest where the local Community can attend to either volunteer or just wander through and enjoy the garden and the produce.🥰🥰

Local School Donation
Lake Monger Primary School had the official opening of their new Nature Playground which we gave a donation towards. Dave Spencer attended and was pleased that a Lions Plaque will be placed on the seating.

Local Groups Grants and Donations

Floreat Lions was proud to host Anita, Sam, and Paula at our February dinner meeting. Local community members who were seeking support for community-based projects that have been championed. Floreat Lions is pleased to announce we have been able to offer grants to both the Lake Monger Primary School Nature Play and "Stars Unplugged"

Floreat Lions = Connection with your community
Stars Unplugger = Connection with self
Nature Play = Connection with Nature
Great things happen when like-minded people come together

Grants for Schools

Here is a sample of what we do in Floreat Lions, membership is your chance to help a whole community.

Local Schools Grants and Donations

Recognising that 2020 has been a difficult year for most school P&Cs to raise funds, Floreat Lions undertook to support its local primary school groups by offering funds for key projects.

A special donation was also made to a charity that provides birthday party packages for children in need.

For a few schools with larger projects, Floreat Lions has committed to working closely with these schools in the new year as their projects start to take shape.

In total, we donated nearly $24,000 worth of grants to schools and community groups.

Our work however cannot continue unless we attract new members from our community (with parents and friends of schools an important demographic).

Recognition through school newsletters, websites, or notices is also important to us to promote the valuable work we do.

City Beach Primary School Native Bush Food Garden Project

Floreat Lions proudly supported the native bush food garden project "Malak Merenyj Bidi" undertaken by City Beach Primary School. This project was supported by our club because of its educational benefit to the students while demonstrating an appreciation of the natural environment.

Floreat Lions Co-Sponsor of Cambridge Canines

Floreat Lions was proud to support the "Cambridge Canines - Dogs Day Out" event held at Perry Lakes. The event was run by the Town of Cambridge which is a fantastic supporter of local community groups. In addition to providing sponsorship prizes for Floreat Lions, we ran the sausage sizzle on the day. Around 500 people and about 60 dogs made it out to join the day.

This is a great example of the sort of flexible volunteering options Floreat Lions offers. Our club has a simple motto of "serving the community" which allows us to participate in just about any project that returns funds back to the community in which they are raised. Many people wrongly think volunteering will be an impediment to their spare time. Volunteering can involve as little as an hour a month to help support your community.

All funds raised will benefit the Shenton Park Dogs Home.
