Lions Club of Dummaladeniya Installation Ceremony on 27th June 2015

Past District Governor Lion Mohan De Silva,
Other distinguished members of the head table,
My dear fellow Lions & Lion Ladies,
It is my privilege to serve as the President of the Lions Club of Dummaladeniya for the year 2015-2016. For that I thank all members for electing me as the president. I mean that sincerely and literally.
It is my hope that we work in harmony together and increase the level of visibility of our club to the wider community. I look forward, in my capacity as president to our club continuing its distinguished tradition of service to our community under its theme “alive to the needs”.
Fellow Lions, it is my determination to work in close co-operation and collaboration with all the members by respecting your ideas through accepting diversity. Life is always moving forward; nothing ever remains the same. Yet most people do not manage to change effectively and positively. Lions let us be agents for change. Our projects should give us a leg up and touch people’s lives in a deep and lasting way. Let us continue to grow, young and old in harmony ready to face the challenge.
Finally, I would like to tell you it is my hope dream and prayer that we transform our possibilities and opportunities into stories of success behind our club.

Lions Club of Dummaladeniya - Zonal Chaireman Visist on 31st July 2015
My dear fellow Lions and Lion ladies,
It’s a pleasure to welcome you in this evening.
As the club president today, I am going to pointed out some important matters with you.
Dear fellows, we have a wonderful club and we want others to share this experience with us. How much easier will it be to invite potential new members, if we have something they can be involved in from the time they are accepted into our ranks? If we have more members, we can provide more service through our club.
The other important thing is I wish to follow a different path to assist the members as a whole to achieve the club objectives. I would like to propose that the members of our club could agree on a major project to undertake, either as groups or as join with the neighbor clubs. Even if you are just a member, be a leader among others and take the leadership of your role. So it will enhance the experience of the members of this club, of being a Lion.
Men and women join Lions for two reasons. First because they have a Social conscience – they want to make a contribution to the welfare of their community. Second is to share their aspirations and successes in various ways with like - minded companions.
As Lions, in this club you stand for what is best in all of us. I want to congratulate you, not just for doing the right thing, but for doing it in a smart, strategic way that changes lives, while bringing dignity to others through humanitarian service.
As we have planned lot of things for this year, we will work and achieve things together to serve others.

My dear Lions & Lion Ladies,
It’s a pleasure to welcome you this evening specially, Regional Chairperson Lion Vinod Kumar who accepted our invitation to participate at our monthly meeting while fulfilling his official visit to the club.
As the president of the Lion’s club, today I would like to point out some greater achievements by handling of good teamwork for high performance of our club.
Together as a team, we will able to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, and in our own lives, as we gain personal and professional skills that will last a lifetime. As a team we could go beyond the scope of any one individual in the club and can generate new ideas through members of the club. We can enhance the communication and it will help members to learn from each other and develop our club.
As a team it is better to work closely with our fellow club members as well as others within the community to meet our service initiatives. We are looking forward to the fellowship. Teamwork and personal satisfaction that we will gain through our membership in the Dummaladeniya Lions club.
If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself. Let’s do it is more powerful than I do it or you do it.
Remember, teamwork is less me and more we!

My dear fellow Lions & Lion Ladies,
First of all let me thank our District Governor Lion Christy Nanayakkara and Lion Lady Siransi along with Past International Director Lion Sunil Watawala and Lion Lady Manel Watawala for gracing this occasion this September evening. Also I thank all of you who are gathered here today including the distinguish members of the head table.
As the President of this prestigious club, I am proud to be your club president who is prepared to offer sincere service to the club and to the community, during this Lionis tic year.
We are now stepping to the 20th year of Lionstic service. At this moment let me reflect upon our club proud history and achievements, while honoring the ties of fellowship that have contributed to our success. During 20 years, as a team Dummaladeniya Lions has devoted themselves to community and humanitarian service, supporting charities and promoting goodwill through a variety of fundraising activities and local projects according to our club theme “Alive to the needs”. Together we have achieved a lot over the years. I am proud to have been part of it. Thank you all for being with us, joining us, and supporting us, day in and day out.
Life is so beautiful. God presents us with this gift of life not to suffer from what we can have as our right. In the future, with our mutual efforts, we will continue to serve our communities and to fulfill our duty of cherishing every human life.
Finally, I would like to invite you to try a little kindness to all helpless living beings surrounded us.

My dear Lions & Lion Ladies,
It’s a pleasure to welcome you in this evening.
First of all today, I would like to thank the members of our club for two important activities. I give my thanks to you all for your great effort to make the success of 20th Charter Anniversary of the club.
Next I thank all the members of our club for their great efforts to make the success of the fund raiser show “Sing along with us” on the 10th October, 2015 evening. This is the one of the major event in raising funds for humanitarian services and bringing significant improvements of your club’s achievements. According to the decision of the board of directors, this is a one of the major annual fundraising event and as the members of the Lions club of Dummaladeniya we all should agree them and working in a spirit of cooperating.
Dear Fellows, it is a privilege and an honor for me to serve you as president, but the key to the success of this club is through your partnership by working together.

It’s a pleasure to welcome all of you and I do hope you are going to enjoy this beautiful evening to the utmost.
Dear fellow Lions, five months had gone and we have almost completed our obligations to the club namely Lion officers visits, Charter Anniversary and major fund raiser. It’s time we must start our community activities. Over the last few days, I have spent some time checking out the club website and learning more about our past events. I would like to invite all of you to visit our club website and bring your new lion members and help them to catch the information and knowledge about our club through Lions club of Dummaladeniya website.

Dear Fellow Lions, Lion ladies and Leos,
I warmly welcome you in this great evening and sincerely wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
The past six months have flown with amazing activities in our club. Many members of our club had helped individually and as a team both quietly and generously. I thank you for your support. You have helped the underprivileged, fed the hungry and donated to deserving people. Your efforts have touched our hearts and have touched the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.
Also I thank our Leo club members including the president for being with us in this graceful evening

My dear Lions and Lion Ladies,
It’s a pleasure to welcome you this evening.
First of all let me thank our District Governor Lion Christy Nanayakkara who initiated four clubs including ours to open a Sight First and Diabetic Centre at Marawila.
The Lions of Dummaladeniya accomplished many important service projects helping a lot of under privilege ones during the past six months. Our vision is to implement service projects eye testing programs, support the disabled ones, food donations and contributions to the District projects.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the Lion ladies who are conducting the meeting this evening.

My dear fellow Lions and Lion Ladies
First of all let me thank our Past District Governor Lion Priyantha Fernando for gracing this occasion this February evening. Also I thank all of you who are gathered here today.
I am much honored by your presence. Governor because it was you who induct me six years back to lions club of Dummaladeniya your words of advice on that day made me to come to this position as president of this club thank you governor.
So, in this Past Governors honoring month, I take this opportunity to honor the Past Governor Priyantha Fernando, on behalf of all the members. The governors are the key to the success of the clubs by peace, hope, determination, teamwork, and unity through their service within the district. Their leadership skills, knowledge and experience are still valuable to us.
So, in this great evening I feel that they are a valuable resource and still have a lot to gain.

My dear Lions & Lion Ladies,
It’s a pleasure to welcome you this evening. Let me first thank our chief guest lion Camillus Fernando and lion lady padmini for accepting our invitation and present here to participate in our monthly meeting
As the president of the Lions Club of Dummaladeniya, I humbly accepted the responsibilities of my work up to now and I promise that I will continue to do so in future. For that I need the support of all my club members. Your help, loyalty, and genuine commitment are of great importance to me, specially your attendance punctuality at the meetings
Together, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, and in our own lives as well, we should be able to gain personal and professional skills ultimately through lionism that will last a lifetime.

My dear fellow Lions and Lion ladies,
It’s a pleasure to welcome you in this evening.
First of all let me thank you all, for your co-operation in the last 11 months. Your solid support to our club programs, your encouragement in various ways, especially through your contributions to our club charities, your participation in club events and your efforts in increasing our club membership.
Hence, at the great occasion of International Association of Lions Clubs, 11th Annual District Convention of District 306B1, which was held at Pegasus Reef Hotel in Wattala on 14th May, 2016, our Lions Club of Dummaladeniya had received two awards; 1st Runner up for Caring for Differently Abled individuals and the other 2nd Runner up for Sight for Kids project, where we provided 35 bifocal spectacles. At this moment I must commend specially lion Terence Wijesuriya, lion Ivon Tissera, lion Mahesh Fernando and lion Chaminda Weerasinghe for their contribution to this project.
I want to congratulate all of you, not just for doing the right thing, but for doing them in a smart, strategic way to change lives of less fortunate, while bringing dignity to them through humanitarian services.
All these make our club a unique one.

My dear fellow Lions Lion Ladies and Leos,
First of all let me thank and express my deep respect and regards to outgoing District governor Lion Chirsty Nanayakkara and all Past District Governors for their valuable support and guidance given to me during this year. Also let me thank outgoing Leo district president Himaya and the council members, our leo club president chamith Jayasuriya and members who work with me. Next I would be happy to thank our chief guest this evening Lion Priyantha Fernando for your presence at our installation meeting.
I am really grateful to you all who helped me to learn more and more of the Lions leadership, its complexities and its benefits, its dedication to the service and humanity and the unparalleled fellowship.
12 months back, in a same situation like this at the installation ceremony of the year 2015/2016, I did my welcome speech when I was appointed as the President of this club and in my speech, If you can remember, I said that it is my hope dream & determination to work in close co-operation and collaboration with all the members by respecting your ideas through accepting diversity. Therefore I thank all Lions and Lion Ladies of our club for your continued support and encouragement over the year culminating what you are seeing today.
Looking back the time we have passed, I feel very happy and proud of being able to lead such a wonderful club. Finally, I must thank every member of the club, for working like one big family for a year.
