The Dover Lions take part in a number of community sponsored events each year: We participate in the local Soap Box Derby, Downtown Car Show, Italian/ American Festival and Warther Knife Show.

We have contributed to a number of items at the Dover City Park which includes the Band Shell, Dover Lions Steps, Water Fountain and other park inprovements.

The club spends meetings during the summer doing upkeep to our step project and signs.

The club provides funds for Dover little league baseball, girls softball and football, Buckeye Council Boy Scouts, are sponsors of the Netawotwes District Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, Buckeye Boys State, Tuscarawas County Special Olympics andTuscarawas County Soap Box Derby.

The club also supports numerous Lions' state and intenational projects including, The Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation, The Ohio Lions Foundation, Camp Echoing Hills, Ohio Lions Pilot Dogs, Ohio Lions All State Band, W R Dick Bryan Diabetes Research Fund, James T Coffey Youth Fellowships, Lions Clubs International Foundation and Campaign Sight First II.

Scholarship Program

The Dover Lions Scholarship program awards a $500.00 scholarship to one or more Dover High School or Dover Catholic High School seniors each year.  Students are chosen based on academics, community service, and financial need.  Lions Clubs are community, state, country, and international civic organizations with a focus of helping others.

Reading Action Program

For the eighth  consecutive year the Dover Lions Club presented a book to each kindergarten student in the Dover City School District and at Tuscarawas Central Catholic Elementary. It is a part of the Lions Clubs International Reading Action Program, a ten year committment to increase reading and literacy rates.

 

Ring the Bell for Salvation Army

We continued its tradition of ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. This is an annual event and the club is proud to help in this holiday tradition.

 

Dover Christmas Parade

The Dover Lions said "Thank You!" to the community for all their support this past year by serving over 30 gallons of free hot chocolate and coffee during the Dover Christmas Parade.

Club members passed out chocolate and had the opportunity to tell the community about all of the wonderful things the Dover Lions do for our community and globally.
