The History and Beginning of
The Clarksville Queen City Lions Club
During the early months of 1986, there seemed to be a need for the second Lions club in the city of Clarksville and Montgomery County, Tennessee. The club actually organized on June 24, 1986. Under the foresight of one or two members of the Clarksville Lions Club, a seed was planted and work began for the organization of a noon club. The Springfield Lions Club became the sponsoring club. On August 23, 1986, there were 21 people who were willing to work together and the Clarksville Queen City Lions Club was chartered.
District Governor Billy Jones of 12-I and J. L. Mashburn, a staff representative of Lions International, were early guest speakers. The club started meeting on a regular basis in July 1986 and developed programs and activities prior to the actual charter.
